Within TSG, the State & Local Tax team helps clients compete and succeed by staying up-to-date on the ever-changing, complex state and local tax rules. Research on legal and regulatory matters affecting clients
Drafting responses to Administrative inquiries on behalf of clients
Participating in meetings with clients and government officials on behalf of clients
Assist in resolving matters at the State or Local level impacting clients
Assist in Administrative Dispute process including Audits, Protests, Settlements, and Appeals or other similar administrative dispute resolution process
Participate in continuing education and outreach
Keep up to date on state and local tax law changes
Participate in business development activities as needed
Develop internal relationships within the firm and help grow external branding
Bachelor's degree required; emphasis in accounting, finance or related field preferred; Master’s Degree in taxation or JD/LLM preferred
CPA and/or licensed attorney required.
Minimum of 4 years of related tax experience required; public accounting experience or law firm experience preferred
Previous experience performing tax research and providing technical advice on state and local tax issues required
Previous experience working with California state or local tax authorities strongly preferred
Previous experience with other state or local tax authorities is preferred
Federal tax background preferred
Employment tax background preferred
Understanding of litigation procedures preferred
Experience in state and local government revenue department preferred
Experience training and supervising Staff and Seniors
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be a highly motivated self-starter and have experience in managing multiple simultaneous client engagements
Able to work effectively both as part of a team and independently
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%

This is the typical range of pay for the position; however, actual pay may vary based on experience, skillset, and location. This position may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Compensation Range (Denver Market ONLY): Greater Bay Area: $120,000 -$197,000 California State: $107,000 -$175,000
