The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Flight Test & Evaluation Engineer--Military Derivative (E-3A AWACS, E-7A AEW&C or P-8A Poseidon) Aircraft Mission System to join our test team in Seattle, WA , performing developmental and certification testing of commercial airplanes and military derivatives.

This team operates primarily out of Boeing Field in Seattle, Washington, with some testing in Everett and Renton.

We’re looking for engineers who can function in a dynamic and exciting flight test environment. Our engineers plan, implement, and document testing of Boeing military derivative aircraft in order to assure product safety, performance, regulatory certification & contractual commitments. These positions are primarily for 1st shift; however, periodic shift change may be required to support program objectives or as noted above in the role responsibilities. Occasional travel will also be required at various domestic and international sites for up to 2-4 weeks at a time.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including: Associate, Experienced and Senior level Flight Test & Evaluation Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for execution of system-level lab, ground and flight tests

  • Write test directives for test article preparation and overall test planning

  • Perform Mission System or avionics upgrade testing as a member of lab, ground, and flight test crews

  • Test results authoring to be reported in real time and/or formally in test reports at the conclusion of test events

  • Maintain flight qualifications to fly onboard military derivative aircraft and technical expertise in testing and/or operating military sensors, communications systems, or mission systems

  • Any single or combination of the following: Communications/Datalinks, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Airborne Surveillance Operator (ASO), Electronic Support Measures (ESM) operator, Mission Computing System (MCS) operator and Aircraft Radar Technician (ART) experience

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Proficiency with one or more of the following areas: aircraft test design/planning, test execution, operation of airplane systems, test article configuration control, aircraft safety protocols, data collection and analysis, airplane maintenance practices or experiences on surveillance platforms in a test or operator role

  • Previous experience in Production Engineering roles

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate (level 2)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Experienced (level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range for associate level: $80,750 - $109,250

Summary pay range for experienced level: $96,900 - $131,100

Summary pay range for senior level: $116,450 - $157,500
