Red River Business Development Executive in Richmond, Virginia

Red River is seeking a Business Development Executive to join our growing team. Reporting to the Senior VP, Business Development, this position will work with leadership across Red River Capture, Sales, and Consulting and Managed Services organizations to develop, document, and refine our cross-functional business development pipeline to drive recurring revenue growth.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop customer relationships, improve customer intimacy, and strengthen existing customer relationships

  • Meet with customers to understand their mission/business—relative to their portfolio of opportunities and Red River capabilities

  • Lead the development of 3-5 year Account Plans

  • Develop a pipeline of new opportunities for your assigned customer or market segment

  • Lead the identification and the qualification of new business opportunities that support business plans, market strategies, account plans, growth goals, and submit targets.

  • Assess strategic fit, identify competition, and recommend potential teammates

  • Lead the early development of the win strategy prior to the assignment of a Capture Manager

  • Work closely with Capture Manager to transition qualified opportunities to the capture team for strategy development

  • Execute targeted call plans to collect information about opportunities; gain an understanding of the customer issues and challenges driving requirements;

  • In collaboration with technical staff, propose and vet potential solutions and approaches; qualify the opportunity; and document findings

  • Perform Capture Manager responsibilities as needed.

  • Prepare for and brief opportunities at formal gate reviews. Lead Interest and Pursuit briefs

  • Provide market, competitor, and customer intelligence and win themes throughout the opportunity life cycle

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of Sales/BD/Capture/Proposal experience within the relevant account(s)

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Experience managing a pipeline of business focused on year-over-year Growth

  • Experience developing and executing Account Strategies

  • Ideal candidates have a strong focus on day-to-day operational excellence, and a personal style that builds trust, and inspires loyalty.

  • Some previous understanding of government and technology strongly preferred

  • Ability to network

  • Willingness to take direction and learn

  • Strong writing skills required

  • The candidate should be motivated, proactive, be able to learn and adapt quickly.
