As the Associate Director, Logistics for Advanced Biotherapeutics, you will be responsible for the management of the worldwide distribution activities of clinical supplies for cell & gene therapies, radiolabeled antibodies, and other new modalities during all phases of clinical trials consistent with GMP/GDP guidelines with a high degree of autonomy.
As a matrix team leader or people manager, you will lead a team focused on clinical supply logistics for advanced therapeutic products. You will provide leadership and guidance to the logistics team members, while working with internal/external business partners on distribution network strategy, logistics set-up and on-boarding of new regions/countries/clinical sites, and shipment execution. You will develop and implement new solutions and make improvements to existing solutions and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner early on with Biotherapeutics Development, Deliver, Janssen Supply Chain, Quality and Procurement to anticipate upcoming needs and drive synergies when developing new capabilities.
Manage the overall relationship, and maintain oversight of operational performance of logistics service providers (Business reviews, trends analysis, continuous improvements, etc.).
Define the vision, lead the analysis and business on-boarding of potential new logistics service providers in collaboration with business partners for new capabilities and solutions, ensuring the most efficient and cost-effective distribution providers are available to end users
Carry out the role of Advanced Therapeutics Logistics Process Owner to ensure procedures are in place, maintained, and adhered to.
Provide logistics leadership in GxP audits and health authority inspections. Ensure quality investigations and corrective/preventive actions are implemented in a timely manner internally and/or by the service provider
Prepare business plan budget forecasts, effectively maintain and update budget for logistics services/consumables with limited guidance
Develop excellent working relationships across Logistics and with other business partners (i.e. Clinical Supply Integration, Patient Scheduling and Supply Execution, Manufacturing, Packaging Engineering, QA, Procurement, Vendors, and Global Clinical Operations)
Qualifications
Education:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required with a focus in engineering, business, or supply chain
A Master's degree as well as other certifications including APICS, Project Management (PMP, FPX), or Lean are preferred
Required:
Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years’ industry experience or Master's degree with at least 8 years’ industry experience
Experience in Supply Chain / Operations / Logistics
Experience in defining a vision, strategy and driving its execution
Demonstrated ability to improve processes end-to-end
Ability to work in a fast-paced global environment both independently and collaboratively, act with speed, flexibility, and accountability to achieve goals while managing complexity and multiple priorities
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability for strong collaboration at various levels across the organization and with external service providers
Preferred:
Solid understanding of ambient, cold, frozen and/or deep frozen (cryo) distribution requirements
Experience in the pharmaceutical or other regulated industry
Vendor management and/or project management experience
General knowledge of GxP principles - GxP audit and/or vendor audit experience
The anticipated base pay range for this position is MIN $131,000 to MAX $225,000.
