Role Description Overview
This role is responsible for carrying out minor maintenance tasks and ensuring the collection center is kept clean and well-organised.
Job Description
1- Ensuring cleanliness of tables, chairs, cabinets, appliances in the break room and waiting areas for employees and donors.
2- Vacuum cleaning carpets, dusting furniture, and trash disposal.
3- Regular daily cleaning of windows and doors.
4- Carrying out minor maintenance tasks including changing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles, painting, along with minor plumbing and carpentry tasks.
5- Wanders around the center's surroundings and parking lots, disposing litter from these areas.
6- Assisting in the recycling process and re-packaging of shipping materials.
7- Regular inspection and cleaning of restrooms throughout the day, restocking as required.
8- Responsible for supplies received from vendors and moving them from the storage area to designated areas.
9- Ensuring a clean and efficient working environment, making certain adequate operating supplies and forms are available as needed. Implements all Health Safety & Environment (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and maintains safety in all actions.
10- Maintains confidentiality, strictly keeping all personnel, donor, and center information private.
11- Possibility of cross-training in other areas to meet the organization's needs.
12- Bilingual skills might be required, depending on the organization's requirements.
13- Performs other duties relative to the job as assigned.
Education Required
- Compulsory to have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Experience Needed
- A minimum of three months of experience in custodial or similar roles would be preferred. An equivalent mix of education and experience can also be considered.
- Ability to understand, remember and apply oral/written instructions.
- Swift comprehension and execution of basic directives and guidelines.
- The role requires direct interaction with customers and observation of equipment operation.
- It requires occasional execution of tasks while standing/walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, and high-level manual dexterity.
- Might occasionally need to lift and carry weight up to 40 pounds.
- The work environment is fast-paced with frequent interruptions.
- Constant risk of exposure to hazardous materials, radically variant temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens.
- It is necessary to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while doing specific tasks or in certain areas.
- You may be required to work overtime or extended hours as per operational needs of the center.
