Pay:

Our Director of IT can expect to earn an annual salary of $110,000 to $125,000 depending on experience, education, and training.

What Will You Do?

The Director of IT will provide technology vision and leadership to the organization by strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation and coordination of information technology and communication systems which improve the organization's effectiveness. This role will require extensive collaboration and engagement with various Maiker Environment Leaders in the identification of business challenges that can be solved wholly or partially through new or improved technology solutions. This position establishes budgetary controls and will supervise a team of technology professionals.

Essential Job Duties are performed with strict adherence to Maiker standards, policies, and procedures, and to local, State and Federal laws and regulations. Other job duties may be assigned. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy and Planning

  • Develop the strategic vision and plan to guide technology operations across departments in alignment with the Maiker Strategic Plan.
  • Establish and evaluate goals for the IT department and our managed service provider, assess progress toward goals and fit with long term strategic plans.
  • Provides reporting as requested on strategic IT initiatives and annual project implementation
  • Establishes IT policies and systems to support the implementation of organizational priorities
  • Creates and documents the organization's policies and practices as they relate to information technology systems
  • Analyzes the business requirements of all departments to determine their immediate and long-term technology needs
  • Responsible for long term Planning and Budgeting
    • Audit current IT software/products and hardware solutions to ensure optimized performance and cost-effectiveness
    • Design and oversee the information technology budget and report on expenditure
    • Prepares annual and multi-year budget projections associated with project implementation and support of business applications
    • Oversees the information technology budget, managing associated expenses in accordance with the budget and reports on expenditures
  • Oversees creation of solutions inventory and identification of duplicative or conflicting solutions, the currency of contracts and budget implications
  • Purchases efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software
  • Oversee evaluation of technological equipment and software in use to ensure functionality and efficiency
  • Directs IT team to identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems
  • Ensures technology resources are accessible across all the organization's locations
  • Assists in building relationships with vendors and procures cost-efficient contracts

Technology Infrastructure Design, Operations and Maintenance

  • Oversee all technology operations and evaluate them according to established goals, including the performance of our IT managed service provider.
  • Designs and maintains safety and security systems for the organization; such technology consists of network-based door access systems and security camera systems
  • Oversees the maintenance and inventory of the organization's mobile devices.
  • Reviews and oversees the organization's software licensing with auditing to ensure compliance
  • Reviews and oversees the organization's SAAS based resources; such resources consist of Microsoft Office 365 suite, Yardi Voyager, File Vision, Pingboard, Alert Media, Zendesk, Manager Plus, and more.
  • Oversees the organization's internal server-based resources which consist of Microsoft Hyper-V, File Servers, Active Directory, and backup servers.
  • Preserves the organization's disaster recovery strategy to ensure we have a 3-2-2 backup environment.
    • Keep at least three copies of our data
    • Keep the backed-up data on two different storage types
    • Keep two copies of the data offsite at two different locations
  • Oversee the organization's security systems and policies and advise when systems or policies should be replaced or updated. Such systems consist of corporate antivirus (endpoints and mobile devices), network switches and routers, servers and WAN connections
  • Oversee and support maintenance and monitoring of:
    • the organization's internet connections across all locations
    • the organization's site-to-site VPN connections
    • the organization's landlines; such resources consist of elevators, security monitoring, door access, and other phone lines
  • Ensures and reviews a current inventory of all hardware, software, and IT resources.

Leadership and Management

  • Coordinates IT technicians and other professionals and provides guidance as needed
  • Works closely with Project Teams from various environments, providing technical expertise, delivering IT specific deliverables, and various alternatives and ideas for overcoming challenges
  • Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources, and meetings in a useful and timely manner and demonstrating respect for others.
  • Organize and establish priorities for work and effectively implement those priorities.
  • Will manage and lead direct reports, including goal setting; performance oversight and management; feedback and coaching; annual evaluation; career development; appropriate recognition; and a positive work environment

What You Need to Bring: (Position Requirements)

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in computer science, accounting or a related field and/or 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience working in a similar role in an organization of at least 100 employees, with responsibility for information analysis, systems project management, accounting and/or database report design experience
  • An in-depth understanding of computer networks, desktop hardware and software, telecommunications equipment, and Yardi
  • Direct IT supervision/leadership experience
  • Experience working in the Property Management or Real Estate industries is strongly preferred.

REQUIREMENTS/KEY COMPETENCIES:

  2. Demonstrated planning and business case development and analysis for new initiatives and systems
  3. Sound experience in project management principles and practices, supported by expertise in electronic productivity tools.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Physical Demands: This position works primarily in an office setting. In the office, it is primarily sedentary.

Some physical work requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 20 pounds; occasional lifting, carrying, walking, bending over to install or troubleshoot computer hardware and standing; frequent hand/eye coordination and finger dexterity to operate personal computer and office equipment; vision for reading, recording and interpreting information; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and customers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Standard office setting; significant exposure to computer equipment.

EQUIPMENT USED:

Frequently uses standard office equipment including personal computers, calculators, printers, shredder machine, fax, and copy machines.
