Job Description:

In the role of an Internet Services Specialist I or Field Technician, you will be focusing primarily on new installations of our cable television and broadband services. You will be driving a company vehicle, interacting with customers in their homes, and representing Mediacom on a daily basis. You will also undertake numerous duties, including installation, service changes, additional outlet installation, service disconnection, collecting payments, and addressing any special requests from customers regarding installation.

Duties:

- Perform customer installations (both interior and exterior) for cable services from tap to antenna terminals on customer equipment in single and multiple-unit dwellings, including pre-wired units
- New connections, reconnections, requested and non-pay disconnections, outlet additions, installation and/or removal of converters, service upgrades and downgrades
- Analyses of picture quality and judgment of its acceptability post cable service installation
- Using hand tools with connectors, fasteners and wires
- Utilizing standard CATV hand and power tools
- Administrative duties as prescribed by system management
- Usage of a field strength meter to read signal levels, and solve installation problems; installation of connectors on different types of drop cables; maintaining proper clearances; installing tap-off devices
- Climbing poles using proper equipment (safety belt, safety strap, and climbers), ladders or other structures when required
- Carrying loads of up to 100 lbs. (including a line ladder), working in confined spaces like crawl spaces
- Proper usage, storage, and maintenance of a VOM or DMM to check "open" or "short" online as well as AC and DC voltages
- Reading general drop system layouts from blueprints
- Inform customers about FCC Rules and Company policies
- Driving company vehicle for job duties; using bucket truck, ensuring proper vehicle upkeep and maintenance
- Sales techniques to generate additional company revenue; providing information about product options, sales campaigns, and promotions
- Other duties as directed - clean-up, salvaging wrecked out materials, assisting other employees

Requirements:

- Zero experience necessary
- Need for a high school qualification or equivalent
- A valid driving license with a satisfactory record
- Basic understanding of mechanical and consumer devices
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers and teammates
- Willingness to work in high or tight spaces
- Ability to work under various weather conditions and at different heights
- Flexible work hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required

Physical Conditions:

- Frequent handling of heavy items (around 50-100 lbs.) and materials, or bulky hand tools
