Apply your expertise to advance the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) International Operations (IO) mission through the ATLAS contract as a Communications Specialist Advisor supporting writing and editing at GDIT. Our work depends on a Communications Specialist Advisor joining our team to advance IO initiatives through the drafting, editing, improving, and standardizing various IO documents and materials. As such, you will support the creation of communication products, videos, social media campaigns, website content as well as providing recommendations on best practices including content, usability, and design for such products and campaigns.

HOW A TECHNICAL WRITER AND EDITOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
• Create or improve upon communications through the development of standardized materials for both internal and external stakeholders
• Participates in the development, revision, and updating of internal and external communications materials in coordination with contract and IO leadership
• Support the creation of strategic communications plans and campaigns to highlight HSI and IO missions and values across multiple platforms and directed towards multiple audiences
• Recommend best practices to improve efficiencies throughout the creation, deployment, maintenance, and updating of communications catalogue products
• Utilize multiple forms of media including but not limited to documents, video, photography, and webpage content to improve IO's image to government and public audiences
• Create and develop professional communications and reporting products for multiple audiences (i.e. Leadership, Congressional, Media)

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
• Education: Master's degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, International Relations, Business Administration, or a related field with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in government or international organizations, with a focus on strategic planning, policy analysis, and executive support; or Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, International Relations, Business Administration, or a related field with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant professional experience in government or international organizations, with a focus on strategic planning, policy analysis, and executive support.
• Required Experience: Expertise in developing, analyzing, and implementing strategic plans and policies. Strong ability to interpret and analyze complex data, financial reports, and policy documents to inform decision-making. Proven ability to manage complex projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
• Security Clearance Level: Must obtain and maintain a favorable background investigation for access to sensitive but unclassified information.
• Required Skills and Abilities: Understanding of fiduciary responsibilities, budget planning, and resource allocation to optimize the use of funds. Skills in evaluating and improving workflows and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting policy documents, reports, and presentations. Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or similar software.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $76,690 - $78,200. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
