The Senior Technical Specialist is responsible for supporting the management and execution of programs in the field, with a focus on conflict resolution, advocacy, social cohesion, and economic viability.

Your Background & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in dialogue building, social cohesion, and/or conflict resolution experience
  • Experience working with international donor-funded projects.
  • Strong command of spoken and written English, Ukrainian, and Russian Prior experience working with IDPs is preferred.
  • Prior experience working with teens and children is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to be creative and generate new ideas.
  • Strong attention to detail and responsibility
  • BA in social science, conflict resolution, or similar discipline
  • Must demonstrate valid proof of unrestricted work authorization in Ukraine.

Your Daily Task

  • Supplies technical assistance in areas such as conflict resolution, social cohesion, advocacy, and economic viability, contributing to the creation of innovative resources under the VIA 2.0 program.
  • Provides technical input into the adaptation of existing curriculums and oversees the adaptation of interactive training techniques and Human Centered Design (HCD) to engage IDPs and receiving community members in constructive dialogue and developing solutions around issues of mutual concern.
  • Supports, monitors, and administers day-to-day management of training and curriculum development project activities;
  • Supports the management of programs by contributing to the development and execution of program timelines, budgets, reports, and other critical documents.
  • Incorporates GESI principles to establish relationships between diverse groups.
  • Works closely with the subgrants team to enhance their bidding, procurement, and partner orientation materials.
  • Collaborates with the MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning) team to design data collection instruments, analyze identity-based differences in participation, and track the impact of program activities.
  • Supports and administers training events focused on capacity building, tension reduction, conflict resolution, leadership skills, and civic engagement.
  • Collaborates with local partners on joint activities to address underlying tensions, discrimination, or other obstacles to social cohesion.
  • Develops and maintains effective collaborations with program partners, including regular interaction with opinion leaders, government officials, civil society organizations, and media groups.
  • Represents IREX publicly, supporting its organizational development and contributing to the distribution of best practices and lessons learned in program areas.
  • Tracks program range of information and data, maintaining accuracy and completeness in all program-related documentation.
  • Contributes to the development of written communications, including drafting, approving, and sending correspondence, as well as preparing internal and external reports.
  • Develops scopes of work for STTAs linked to conflict resolution, advocacy and economic viability.
  • Interacts regularly with opinion leaders, government officials, trainers, civil society and media groups, and other program stakeholders.
  • Creates a referral system with IDP-serving and women-led groups who have developed expertise in trauma-informed care and addressing Gender Based Violence (GBV).
  • Drives innovation of resources created under VIA 2.0 program.
  • Travels throughout Ukraine to attend program events and meetings (if possible and according to IREX policy and the public health situation in Ukraine).
  • Stays up to date with monitoring the situation in Ukraine and how it affects staff and communities to ensure the safety of all participants.
  • Other duties as assigned.
