Metric5 is currently seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join a growing team on an exciting and highly visible project for our US Department of the Treasury customer.

The Metric5 team is seeking a skilled Senior Systems Administrator to join an Agile program responsible for the development, maintenance, security, and operational support of new and existing applications. You will lead a team that provides middle-tier support, tool management, and operating system administration. You will communicate regularly with the customer and report team metrics and status. You are a cross-functional DevOps specialist who provides pipeline and deployment automation and support. You are agile, fearless, enthusiastic, empathic, and relentless in the pursuit of continuous improvement. This program will support the agency's Information Technology mission to provide development and operational support of new and existing legacy mission-enabling applications. The team will work to modernize current applications by breaking them down into loosely coupled micro-services and leveraging a continuous integration / continuous delivery pipeline to enable an agile DevOps Strategy.

Specifics:

  • Triage and troubleshoot issues related to applications and supporting infrastructure
  • Report team and system status and metrics to the customer
  • Administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) virtual servers on VMWare
  • Contribute to developing infrastructure as code, software build tools, and integration tools
  • Work with development teams to automate manual release/build related activities
  • Provide support, tool management, and operating system administration for new and legacy applications

Required Skills:

  • Experience leading a team of systems and database administrators
  • Experience with management/tracking utilities such as JIRA/Confluence
  • Demonstrated experience administering VMWare, RHEL, network storage, networking, and load balancing technologies (F5)
  • Experience in cloud services
  • Able to clearly communicate with other leads, project managers, and customers
  • Experience with programming and software development, to include analysis, design, development, implementation, testing, maintenance, quality assurance, troubleshooting, and/or upgrading of software systems
  • Working knowledge of web service environments, languages, and formats such as RESTful APIs, SOAP, FTP/SFTP, HTML, JavaScript, XML, and JSON
  • Familiarity with virtualized environments
  • Experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working in a SAFe Agile environment and knowledge of Agile philosophies
  • Able to provide positive recommendation of improvements to existing software applications

Education: Bachelors in a Technical Discipline – Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree

Years of Experience: 5+ years of experience or more

Clearance: Must be a United States Citizen and able to obtain a security clearance for this government position.
