IREX seeks a Senior Program Officer to manage programming for the Fulbright Teacher Exchanges. The Senior Program Officer is an integral part of the Fulbright Teacher Exchanges and provides strategic and administrative support in the management of programs. The Senior Program Officer will oversee planning and day-to-day operations of a portfolio of programs, provide financial oversight and supports technical aspects of programming.

Your Background & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of progressive job experience
  • Strong background and experience in international development with a significant portion working with USG funded projects.
  • Experience with project design, grant management, and proposal development.
  • Knowledge of and experience working in the field of secondary education and ability to draw upon sound knowledge of the field, best practices, and funder and IREX approaches to enhance program implementation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience with level of effort projections, financial management, project budgeting and forecasting.
  • Experience with performance monitoring and evaluation plans and development of and monitoring of results framework.
  • Excellent writing and oral presentation skills, evidenced by professional experience and success.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with data management platforms and understanding in how to use technology to enhance program implementation.
  • Ability to foster collaborative spirit on project teams.
  • You must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Your Daily Tasks

  • Leads, monitors and adjusts programs to ensure high quality program deliverables and results are being met.
  • Negotiates, manages and monitors sub awards, contracts, consulting agreements with program partners.
  • Supports effective relations and coordination with program donors and partners.
  • Develops and oversees program material, including design of program workshops and manuals.
  • Serves as SEVIS ARO, depending on program portfolio.
  • Lead and support program data and application systems, develop data management standards, train staff and oversee compliance.
  • Envisions, manages and oversees the planning and implementation of program events and workshops.
  • Provides management and oversight of a portfolio of programs.
  • Drafts complex documents, including program reports and evaluations.
  • Supports program publicity and outreach.
  • Lead and support program Monitoring & Evaluation design and implementation.
  • Contributes to new business development efforts, including assessments, technical design, and proposal writing.
  • Manages program budgets, including analyzing projections vs actuals, forecasting and recasting, and regular updates to pipelines in PPRS.
  • Ensures all fiscal and performance activities are in compliance with IREX policies and procedures and funder regulations.
  • Represents Education Practice interests both within and outside of IREX.
  • May guide, mentor, train, or coach to other staff.
  • Make decisions and provide solutions to implementation obstacles.
  • Other support duties as needed.

This position offers an anticipated salary range of approximately $65,600 - $80,000

This position is eligible for Telework. The eligible employee is a regular, full-time DC-based staff who works from a worksite outside the DC office for one or more days a week.
