Under the supervision of the Project Director, the Program Officer will manage the implementation of the “Digital Engagement: Safe and Smart” program in Slovakia. The Program Officer will support the development of digital engagement curricula, oversee the work of external experts, organize meetings and training sessions for the program’s target audiences, arrange logistics for online and in-person events, draft reports, collect monitoring and evaluation data, act as local liaison with partners and donor representatives, and perform other tasks, as assigned, to ensure successful program implementation.

Your Background & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, for example, journalism, communication science, political science, sociology or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in working with communication and/or education industry, or project management.
  • Good knowledge of digital, media and information landscapes in Slovakia.
  • Good understanding of education system and innovations in education.
  • Proven ability to build and matin constructive partnerships: Experience working with a broad range of stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organization, and educational institutions, fostering collaboration and mutual understanding
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills: Capable of engaging diplomatically with diverse groups, balancing the perspectives of various sectors to ensure inclusive and productive dialogue
  • Cultural and political awareness: A deep understanding of the Slovak sociopolitical context, particularly the evolving roles of civil society and government, with the ability to navigate and mediate between different viewpoints
  • Negotiation skills: Adept at addressing potential disagreements and facilitating consensus-building in environments with differing priorities and interests
  • Adaptability and flexibility (resilience): Able to operate effectively in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environments, demonstrating resilience and the capacity to adjust strategies in response to changing circumstances.
  • Excellent command of Slovakian and very good command of English is required.
  • Excellent digital skills, for example, MS Office, design programs such as Canva, social media skills, etc.).
  • You must have unrestricted authorization to work in Slovakia.

Your Daily Tasks

  • Provide operational day-to-day management of “Digital Engagement: Safe and Smart” program.
  • Serve as the liaison with local partners in Slovakia, as well as with media, private sector and civil society partners, experts, vendors, program beneficiaries, donors and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure project activities are implemented on schedule and within budget.
  • Oversee and monitor curriculum and materials development.
  • Organize events for curriculum and materials rollout to target audiences.
  • Perform monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of program activities.
  • Represent IREX in front of partners and stakeholders.
  • Represent IREX publicly and support its organizational development.
  • Assists with developing further proposals to ensure program continuity and sustainability.
  • Oversees running project expenses in-country.
  • Maintains compliance with donor and IREX policies and regulations.
  • Manage collaboration with Ministry of Education and experts on curriculum development, and trainings (including teachers, students, and parents).
  • Manage, and mentor project partners.
  • Other support duties as needed.
