Reporting to the Associate Director, Prospect Research and Portfolio Management, the Prospect Research Intern will research key prospects and donors and analyze information on prospective donors and their alignment to Share Our Strength. The Research intern will assist with research requests in a timely manner, analyze and synthesize information, and generate user-friendly profiles, memos and reports. This intern will also manage special projects that will require in-depth research and data mining skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct proactive research to identify new potential major and principal gift donors using various online and offline resources, data mining, screening, and other methods.
  • Perform special assignments upon request (examples: data analytics projects; etc.).
  • Analyze various geographic areas and industries to ascertain the foundations strength and fundraising viability in particular market sectors.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and data privacy regulations and when conducting research and handling donor information.
  • Maintain accurate data and research findings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College Undergraduate, Graduate Student, or Recent Graduates
  • MS Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Research Skills- An ability to do ‘deep dives' in individuals, companies and foundations.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to identify and work through challenges, underscored by strong judgment and emotional intelligence.
  • Some familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and CRM database Preferred; Raiser's Edge or RE NXT preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on multi-step, detail-oriented projects in a fluid environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting to high-level audiences.
  • Demonstrated interest in anti-hunger and anti-poverty issues.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
