Position Location: This position is hybrid. Hybrid positions combine regular in-person presence at our Washington, DC, office with the option of at least two days of remote work each week.
Please Note: This position is included in the staff bargaining unit, Brookings United, affiliated with the IFPTE Local 70 union, and is covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
The Engagement Coordinator, under the supervision of the Director of Engagement, helps advance Metro’s impact goals by providing project and administrative support on special initiatives, network management, and outreach strategies to key external stakeholders, including local partners and donors. Specific activities include scheduling, managing internal and external requests, capturing and tracking tasks, preparing external outreach, providing execution support on meetings and convenings, and other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements
Associate degree (preferably in communications, public relations, public policy, sociology, or other liberal arts field) or an equivalent combination of directly relevant experience and training required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of three years’ relevant administrative, communications, or project support experience. Non-profit and/or agency experience preferable, but not required. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently. Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate and exchange information, as well as serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for Metro. Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and take initiative in a fast-paced environment without compromising attention to details. Strong organizational and time management skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (including Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), Zoom or equivalent videoconferencing platform(s), and Salesforce or other CRM, with the capacity to learn new programs and applications. Ideal candidates will have discretion, poise, and mature judgment. Interest and familiarity with important urban and metropolitan issues and trends preferred.
