Position Overview

Coordinates the operations of the MHVI Arrhythmia Device Clinic at a local and regional level. Supervises clinical support staff. Coordinates and assists in departmental daily operations and the delivery of treatment. Develops protocols, standards of practice, and educational programs for patients and staff. Manages and maintains device database

Unit Highlights

Ourdynamic Electrophysiology Lab team is made up of Registered Nurses,Cardiovascular Technologist and support staff, to include MOAs and PCT’s, thatwork in a dynamic and innovative environment for a unique patientpopulation! Our focus is patient safety while utilizing cutting edgetechnology and research that supports the treatment and wellness of ourpatients! A few of these procedures included the following: LoopRecorders, Electrophysiology Studies, Pacemakers, Implantable CardioverterDefibrillator (ICD), Atrial Fibrillation Ablations, Aflutter Ablations, SVT& VT Ablations, Cryo, and Watchman.

Key Responsibilities

Oversees and directs activities of assigned personnel. Makes recommendations regarding hiring, salary adjustments, disciplinary actions and if necessary, terminations.

Develops and maintains standards of care for patients with Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED).

Updates, maintains and manages patient device database using current and appropriate software. Utilizes database for efficient electronic record keeping, FDA compliance, and workflow / clinic resource requirements.

Coordinates the day-to-day patient flow in the Arrhythmia Center Device Clinic. Adjusts schedules/patient appointments to meet changing priorities due to severity of patients’ needs. Works with physicians and staff to minimize patient wait. * Identifies any problems and recommends corrective action. Evaluates patients' complaints and symptoms and consults physicians for appropriate intervention when situation is warranted

Coordinates patient throughput within the Device Clinic.

Oversees patient billing, scheduling, and report generation for pacemaker / defibrillator clinic in a timely manner. Determines best billing practices for the device clinic.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Nursing Required

Bachelor’s degree Required

3 or more years of progressively responsible job related experience. Required

Active DC RN License

International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) certification within 2 years Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Plans, conducts, implements and reviews educational programs for staff, patients and family members regarding function and monitoring of CIED. for.
  • Monitors device performance and safety guidelines. Responds to safety alerts in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Serves as a resource to other nursing and clinical personnel, providing professional advice and guidance in the management of arrhythmia and electrophysiology health care.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments by routinely reviewing appropriate literature and attending related seminars, conferences, etc.
  • Collaborates with research coordinators on research proposals for inpatient and outpatient clinical drug and device trials; screens patients for inclusion in studies and determines supply, equipment and staffing requirements. .
