Job Summary: Assist in the coordination of the Park's overall safety, ensuring compliance with all local, state, federal standards and all policies/procedures established by Six Flags. Additional responsibilities include managing emergency situations, overseeing the seasonal safety staff and daily operation.

Activities include:

  • Create and maintain a total safety culture.
  • Conduct accident investigations to determine the root cause of guest and employee incidents.
  • Responsible for compliance monitoring of environmental codes/regulations and permits.
  • Multitask under high pressure and emergency situations and delegate as necessary while maintaining communications with Park management.
  • Assist in maintaining files and compliance with CAL/OSHA, EPA, SCAQMD and other governing agencies.
  • Perform daily inspections at various Park sites to verify compliance with Park safety standards.
  • Supervise seasonal Safety Department staff in daily functions.
  • Assist in developing and conducting trainings for employees on Park safety procedures.
  • Assist with creating and maintain budgets for Safety and ensure the department is operating within budgets.
  • Maintaining composure in dealing with guests, authorities, executives, and staff, under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and appropriate to the area of responsibility and to meet the needs of the Park.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year supervisory experience in a theme park preferred.
  • Strong teambuilding and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across divisions; confidence working with senior leadership.
  • Possess strong planning, organization, leadership and administrative skills.
  • Must be able to perform inspections, requiring climbing on high structures, ladders, and into confined spaces and have the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Knowledge of CAL/OSHA, EPA programs and regulations.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills plus proven problem solving and reasoning abilities.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Flexible schedule required including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills plus solid problem solving and reasoning abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Valid CA Driver License
