Job Summary
The Process Lead (Retail Operations Supervisor) shares responsibility for driving operational excellence in our stores, while upholding our vision, mission, values, and strategy. Duties include merchandising and inventory management, pet care operations, store opening and closing, associate oversight, and maintaining a safe, organized store.
Essential Responsibilities
People Leadership:
- Support and guide sales associates in merchandise handling, providing training on product knowledge and presentation standards
- Facilitate the associate experience, including training, onboarding, mentoring, coaching for growth, and providing input for performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and promotions
- Delegate and verify the completion of daily tasks
- Lead and direct associates as the leader on duty
- Address and handle associate complaints and grievances
- Recognize and celebrate associates’ achievements to encourage engagement
Store Operations and Experience:
- Execute merchandise strategies to optimize sales, including receiving, placement, seasonal displays, and promotional setups
- Manage inventory levels, conduct regular audits, and analyze sales trends to make recommendations for stock replenishment and markdowns
- Maintain accurate inventory records, conduct audits, and address discrepancies
- Operate POS systems and handle cash transactions in accordance with company policies
- Maintain store standards and enforce compliance with policies, procedures, and code of ethics
- Share responsibility for store opening and closing procedures to uphold our brand promise
- Perform monthly cycle counts and address discrepancies
- Ensure pet care standards are met, including cleaning, feeding, watering, and caring for new arrivals and sick pets
- Support a positive experience for pet parents picking up online orders in store or using ship-from-store services
- Foster a safe and healthy environment for pets and support all associate and pet parent experiences
- Take immediate action and report when a sick or injured pet is identified; transport to vet as needed
- Follow procedures for the receipt and quarantine of new store-owned pets and ensure health standards before moving pets to the sales floor
Qualifications
- Two or more years of retail supervisory experience in a customer-focused environment
- Full-time availability with schedule flexibility, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Proficient in computer applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to remain composed under pressure
- Excellent organizational skills and detail orientation, especially for store layout and visual appearance
Supervisory Responsibility
- No direct reports, but expected to support and guide the development of other associates
- Provide feedback on associate performance to direct supervisor
- Act as the leader when other supervisors are absent, including assigning tasks and addressing concerns
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb ladders, and use hands for handling, holding, writing, and other tasks
- Frequently required to reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear; vision requirements include depth perception
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally team lift/move over 100 pounds
- May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet environments, pet hair, and moderate to high noise levels
- Regular animal interaction and handling required
