Overview

  • This is a non-regulated employee benefits role, specialising in Group Risk and Healthcare
  • Maintain and develop a portfolio of existing corporate clients by providing high quality advice and consultancy to an agreed budget
  • Ensure the revenue from this portfolio is profitable. Identify and expand lines of cover and service delivery
  • Identify and proactively develop new business opportunities
  • Provide a professional high quality service to all clients, colleagues and other third parties
  • Exceed both internal and external client expectations

How you'll make an impact

  • Responsible for client account ownership – anticipate and respond to the ongoing and future needs and objectives of clients, with a prompt and flexible approach to meet and exceed their expectations and ensure consistent delivery of outstanding service
  • Actively contribute towards the development and management of the Employee Benefits corporate objectives
  • Demonstrate extensive and up-to-date technical employee benefits knowledge at all times, advising clients as required within the designated Permitted Areas of Activity as confirmed by line management / Compliance
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with both new and existing corporate clients, and be relied upon as their trusted adviser
  • Develop effective internal and external relationships to assist in providing an efficient professional service to clients in line with service agreements and manage their expectations on work being undertaken
  • Achieve and exceed revenue targets, through retention of existing clients and new business generation
  • Ensure the profitable growth of the business by identifying and proactively developing and securing additional revenue from existing clients and new client relationships through cross-selling initiatives, referrals, professional connections and leveraging AJG’s internal network
  • Proactively identify other new business opportunities for both Wealth Management Advisers and General Insurance broking colleagues within the AJG Group
  • Take overall responsibility to ensure all clients are profitable, serviced on the agreed standard / bespoke pricing basis, and fee invoicing process is undertaken in a timely manner
  • Ability to draw up and negotiate on services / fee proposals – subject to the standard fee pricing structure and approval protocols in force
  • Ensure any additional services offered to clients are agreed on the standard fee pricing basis through sign-off by management
  • Monitor income to ensure budget achieved and financial control over Consultant portfolio and client budgets
  • Identify potential unprofitable clients and agree with management what action, if any, is required
  • Ensure adherence to the firm’s engagement and re-engagement procedures, with suitable protections in place
  • Preparation of detailed client reports, Powerpoint presentations, spreadsheets, etc
  • Management of timescales – ensure all client deadlines and service levels are met or client / management informed otherwise
  • Work closely with and assist in the development of Technical Consultants and Account Executives within the team as directed by line management
  • Undertake all projects in a professional, timely and compliant manner in liaison with other teams as required
  • Attend team / Consultant meetings to share and exchange views and drive forward best practice and innovation within our services portfolio

About You

Qualifications

Essential

· Hold the Group Risk Certificate GR1

· Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as required to maintain and enhance knowledge and skills

Technical knowledge and understanding

· Extensive and up-to-date technical knowledge of Group Risk / Healthcare) through appropriate industry exams and CPD, including products, markets, the required regulatory standards and their relevance to corporate clients

· Keep up to date with key developments, industry / market changes and regulations

· IT literate – Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and relevant internal systems / databases

· Ensure that individually and as a firm we “Treat Customers Fairly”

· Awareness of the regulatory requirements in respect of ‘advised’ and ‘non-advised’ sales and, in particular, evidencing the standards and knowledge required in respect of giving advice and making recommendations to customers

Experience

· Experienced Technical Consultant or Account Executive in the Group Risk and Healthcare team

· Ability to manage and develop compliant business from new and existing clients in the corporate client arena

· Service and sales orientated: outstanding customer service, translates client needs into engagements, demonstrates commerciality in their actions, developing and maintaining strong relationships

· Strong verbal and written communication / presentation skills at all levels, both internally and externally

· Confident presentation skills, both internally and externally

· Ability to negotiate effectively with corporate clients at Board level (MD / FDs) and senior people in external organisations

· Good organisation skills, with ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks

· Ability to work under pressure, solve problems and develop workable solutions

· High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all areas of work, including ability to produce high standards of documentation

· Proven project management capability and experience

· Ability to deal with change in a positive way

· A high level of knowledge of both Registered and non-Registered Group Life schemes, noting current market issues
