Overview

The job involves leading and developing a team of Associate Consultants, ensuring the successful delivery of their work to Risk & Healthcare corporate consulting clients. You will serve as the point of escalation for sophisticated issues raised by the team and report progress to the Risk & Healthcare corporate consulting Management Team. The role requires exceeding both internal and external client expectations in a non-regulated, B2B corporate pension and employee benefits setting. You will provide timely and accurate support to Consultants and Management in their interactions with corporate clients, including regular client communication and coordination with the administration team. Taking ownership of a small portfolio of corporate clients, you will offer high-quality advice and consultancy within agreed budget constraints. Providing a professional and outstanding service to all clients, colleagues, and external parties is crucial, with the aim of surpassing both internal and external client expectations.


How you'll make an impact

  • Anticipate and respond to the needs and objectives of the Associate Consultant team with a timely managerial approach to meet their needs and ensure consistent delivery of outstanding client service.
  • Responsible for a small client portfolio, anticipating and responding to the ongoing and future needs and objectives of clients, with a timely and flexible approach to meet and exceed their expectations and ensure consistent delivery of outstanding service.
  • Demonstrate a good level of up-to-date technical knowledge of employee benefits, advising clients within the designated Permitted Areas of Activity as confirmed by line management/Compliance.
  • Provide proactive and effective support to Consultants and Management in all aspects of their work with corporate clients, allowing them time to develop additional new business opportunities.
  • Maintain and develop positive relationships with both new and existing corporate clients.
  • Develop effective internal and external relationships to provide an efficient professional service to clients in line with service agreements and manage their expectations.
  • Assist with client scheme renewals, working closely with the Consultant and administration teams.
  • Acquire detailed knowledge of all technical aspects of corporate schemes, working with the administration teams and directly with clients to provide guidance on all aspects of the clients' schemes.
  • Provide support to clients and scheme members, on the telephone/in person, with new enquiries, client correspondence, and information requests as necessary.
  • Prepare and finalize client reports and PowerPoint presentations in conjunction with the Lead Consultant.
  • Provide support in campaign management and meeting preparation (including liaison with insurers, administration team, and clients; arranging meetings, clinics, seminars; preparation and distribution of meeting agendas, packs, and presentations; briefing Consultant prior to meeting), and attend client meetings when required.
  • Achieve and exceed revenue targets through the retention of existing clients.
  • Take overall responsibility to ensure all clients are profitable, serviced on the agreed standard/bespoke pricing basis, and the fee invoicing process is undertaken in a timely manner.
  • Ensure any additional services offered to clients are agreed on the standard fee pricing basis through sign off by management.
  • Assist Consultants in monitoring income to ensure budget achievement and financial control over Consultant portfolio and client budgets.
  • Proactively assist the Consultant in identifying and progressing new business/income opportunities with clients.
  • Identify potential unprofitable clients and agree with management what action, if any, is required.
  • Ensure adherence to the firm's engagement and re-engagement procedures, with suitable protections in place.
  • Maintain a diary management system for yourself and the Consultant that enables efficient oversight and intra-team workflow.
  • Lead timescales – ensure all client deadlines and service levels are met or advise the client/management otherwise.
  • Lead action points from meetings/matters arising.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with our internal policies and procedures, applicable laws, rules, regulations, good governance, and Gallagher's shared values, including putting clients at the heart of our business.
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure the part of the business for which you are accountable demonstrably complies with applicable laws, rules, regulations, good governance, and Gallagher's shared values, including putting clients at the heart of our business. If shortcomings are identified, take responsibility for remedial action planning and action in conjunction with the relevant experts within the firm.

About You

  • Minimum of A-Level qualifications including English and Maths (ideally educated to degree level), or equivalent
  • Studying towards or have acquired the relevant professional qualifications for the individual role: Group Risk (ie CII GR1); Healthcare (CII IF7); Pensions (ie Pensions Management Institute diploma level)
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as required to maintain and improve knowledge and skills
  • Relevant professional qualifications for the role (e.g., Group Risk, Healthcare, Pensions)
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Solid understanding of employee benefits consultancy
  • Up-to-date industry knowledge
  • Developing core consulting skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant systems
  • Compliance with "Treating Customers Fairly" principles
  • Awareness of regulatory requirements
  • Experience in Financial Services or financial services administration
  • Strong customer service and relationship building skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organizational skills and ability to lead multiple tasks
  • Attention to detail and high-quality documentation
  • Ability to travel to various locations (Driving licence (clean) / access to a car is preferable)
  • Eligible to work in the UK

Desirable Qualifications:

  • QCF Level 4 (Diploma level PFS or PMI)
