Position Summary

As a SCADA Engineer at Sargent, you will play a crucial role in configuring advanced systems to gather diverse data sets and improve operational efficiency. Your expertise will transform this data into actionable insights and comprehensive reports, driving informed decision-making and operational excellence. This position involves ensuring the reliable operation of SCADA systems, monitoring real-time data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize process control and data management. You will work closely with the Automation Team to determine appropriate solutions with automation and control systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements to improve system performance and reliability. This role will also utilize Microsoft Power BI to communicate critical business data to internal stakeholders. The end devices you will be working with include but are not limited to, PLC, NI hardware, computer systems, CNC machines, robotics, and various sensors. This position will play a crucial role in driving data-driven business decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Research, design, develop, implement, test, document, and sustain automation solutions
  • Provide scope, qualification, savings, resource, and budget estimates for automation data projects
  • Coordinate with business stakeholders to provide actionable data based on the VoC (Voice of the Customer)
  • Configure and program SCADA software to meet specific operational requirements
  • Integrate SCADA systems with other control systems and industrial equipment
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, network diagrams, and procedures
  • Build data visualizations for our production floor using our ERP and production data (Microsoft Power BI)
  • Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to ensure seamless system integration
  • Maintain project plans and provide deliverables to your internal customers
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users and operators
  • Foster a positive safety culture in which no one gets hurt
  • Support the Automation Team with all other required technical needs

Automation Includes - assembly machines/fixtures, CNC machines, robots, production software, and test equipment

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 2+ years experience with SCADA systems or equivalent, PLCs, and HMI software
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages, such as SQL, C++, Python, Java, and ladder logic
  • Experience using data visualization tools (Power BI, Grafana, Tableau, etc.)
  • Familiarity with PLC programming and configuration
  • Comfortable working in a CNC lathe and mill machine shop setting occasionally
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-driven and results-oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office


Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years as a SCADA Engineer or related role
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems (e.g. lean manufacturing, Six Sigma)
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols, including Modbus, OPC, and DNP3
  • Strong project management skills and experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Extensive experience with SCADA systems, including design, implementation, and maintenance
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement
