SUMMARY

Primary duties for this position will be to plan, implement and manage an immersive learning experience targeted to upper-level undergraduates attending a minority-serving educational institution. This role involves supporting the HACU Student Success department in program management, coordination, and programmatic assistance to achieve their stated goals. Specific responsibilities include helping coordinate the ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute at HACU's Annual Conference and assisting the Executive Director and Director with other department projects.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in education, public administration, social work, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in student development, community outreach, or program management. Previous experience in grant management and reporting and/or program evaluation and implementation, preferred.
  • Experience with program and project management with the ability adapt to changing conditions and meet challenges with resourcefulness.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and other virtual meeting tools is required i.e., Zoom, document merges, databases, creation, data entry, maintenance, report generation.; experience with social media and website management preferred.
  • Ability to produce mathematical computations with accuracy and record and analyze financial or other quantitative data. Strong budget management skills preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to collect and tell student success stories and speak effectively before small and large groups. Strong public relations and customer service skills preferred.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred, but not required.
  • Must be proactive, organized, and professional, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds in a manner that is consistent with HACU's culture, mission, and values.
  • High attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects at once and deal with competing priorities from multiple sources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professional, technical, and administrative staff to ensure the fulfillment of HACU's mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Managing all logistical details. This will include preparing and submitting financial reports; tracking attendance and project goals; communicating with participants ahead of meetings and workshops; distributing surveys and assisting with evaluation data; arranging student travel; and ensuring all other logistical details run smoothly.
  • Working closely with funder to implement project. This includes presenting, monitoring and discussing project progress and opportunities; providing technical assistance; and assisting with work plans and any project modifications.
  • Maintaining regular communication with HACU's Communications and Marketing Department and funder officials to develop quality and timely outreach and communication materials to promote the initiative.
  • Hosting and moderating virtual outreach sessions with eligible university faculty interested in participating in the initiative.
  • Hosting and moderating all virtual workshops.
  • Maintaining regular communication with participating MSI to ensure engagement and participation, including scheduling biweekly check-ins with participating student teams to ensure all deliverables are met, questions related to the project are answered.
  • Serving as a thought partner with consultants to help develop and implement the proposed activities, as needed
  • Assisting with local, state, and national recruitment for Student Services Student Track, scholarships and corporate internships.
  • Conducting presentations on corporate and federal internships, ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute and Scholarship program components as needed at colleges and universities and other venues.
  • Working with HACU corporate partners and their employee resource groups to develop a network of mentors available to assist students in developing their skills in order to be career ready.
  • Developing and implementing support programs and a curriculum that assists in the development of soft and hard skills for undergraduate and graduate students to increase corporate placements and career mobility.
  • Developing and maintaining an outreach network of college students that will disseminate important information about HACU's programs and services particularly those that are student-oriented, such as HACU's National Internship Program (HNIP) and national and international forums, as well as opportunities for community/public service and related training programs.
  • Help coordinate travel logistics and placement for students.
  • Assisting with the management of ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute Scholarship application and selection process.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May supervise support staff in the Executive Director's absence. These duties are to be carried out in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable federal and state laws.


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Must be available to travel as needed throughout the year, up to 20%.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Employee will work a standard of 40 hours a week; however, longer hours may be necessary at times.
  • Development activities, Conferences and events may take place in hotel and/or convention center settings and require longer hours of work on a constantly changing schedule, including work on weekends and evenings.
  • Working conditions are in an office environment.
  • Occasionally moves items weighing up to 25 pounds.
