Job Highlights:
This position is for the role of an Armed Security Officer focusing on ensuring security and reducing instances of criminal activity. Your role will be to provide safety for patients, team members, and visitors while actively guarding and patrolling the assigned hospital buildings and premises. As an Armed Security Officer, you will be on the front line, responding to emergency codes, disasters when required or requested, conducting preliminary enquiries of reported incidents, and carrying out other related duties as directed by a security supervisor or Manager. This role may require flexible hours and shifting between different facilities, including necessary travel. 

Key Responsibilities:

- Regular security patrols of assigned facilities and grounds 
- Identification and reporting of security issues and trends, as well as recommending suitable actions 
- Accurate information collection for incident reports ensuring proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and objective factual details 
- Prompt response to all service requests conveyed through various communication channels, such as by supervisor, phone, email, radio, and other correspondence 
- Managing lost and found items, patient valuables, medication, and personal property in accordance with the policy 
- Enforcement of all organizational rules, regulations, policies, and local laws 
- Control and enforcement of parking facility, including patrols, issuing violation warning tickets, towing and explaining the rules 
- Supporting clinical/non-clinical Associates dealing with aggressive patients or visitors 
- Operation of security equipment and systems like the Attendant Console, Paging System, security radio/dispatch system, operations of the Digital Video Recorder (NVR) 
- Proficiency in using a PC in the generation of daily activity security reports, incident reports, emails, and other related electronic correspondence during the course of duties 
- Proactive in promoting a safe environment by reporting observed safety hazards 
- Adapting to client's specific needs in terms of their physical, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental requirements 
- Upkeeping the CORE values of the organization 
- Undertaking other assigned responsibilities 

Specific Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent 
- Ability to interact well with all staff, patients, and visitors 
- Mental alertness at all times 
- Strong written and verbal communication skills 
- Immediate and accurate decision-making capabilities following laws, policies, and procedures 
- Valid motor vehicle license 
- Demonstrated prowess with security tools such as a handgun, hand cuffs, baton, and two-way radios 
- Ability to handle aggressive behaviors, emotionally charged situations and exposure to hazardous conditions 
- Good physical fitness and ability to perform tasks such as lifting, standing, stooping, and walking for extended periods 
- Efficient multitasking and prioritizing abilities 
- Tolerance for personal stress and violence 
- In accordance with dress code requirements, CHRISTUS-approved uniforms should be worn 

Job Experience:

- A minimum of two years of armed security experience (or Honorable Military Service) is preferred 
- Preference for previous law enforcement experience 
- Prior experience in healthcare security is desired 

Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:

- Required Level 3 Certification for roles located in Texas 
- Completion of IAHSS Basic Security Certification within one year of full-time employment 
- Successful completion of pre- and post-employment assessments 
- Random drug test screening 
- Valid drivers’ license necessary 
- FEMA Emergency Management Institute Courses completion
