Overview

The Workers’ Compensation Specialist position is responsible for coordinating and providing workers’ compensation cost containment consulting services to members of the Missouri United School Insurance Council (MUSIC) www.musicprogram.org. MUSIC is a member-owned, self-insurance pooling program of 92% of Missouri public school districts and two-thirds of Missouri community colleges. This position has the opportunity to significantly impact the program’s $37 million workers’ compensation loss portfolio, thereby saving the school districts and community colleges on their costs, but also to save taxpayer dollars across the State.

The position provides the opportunity to meet with those members and their administrative teams to consult and provide guidance designed to reduce exposures that impact their membership. This requires contacting the member to schedule the visit as well as written follow-up with recommendations and other related action items. The position allows for presenting at their district/college, as well as providing written loss prevention articles for the MUSIC newsletter and to design programs that help the members: 1) operate more efficiently, 2) save on expenses, and 3) streamline injured employees’ return to work and to their normal lives as quickly as possible.
