Salary Range: $73,500-$100,000


At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare, well-being benefits, paid family leave as well as generous paid time off. Position Summary


The Solutions Engineer - AI supports the development and implementation of AI-driven solutions to enhance our banking services and operational efficiency. This position will work closely with stakeholders and other members of the technology team. This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director of Strategic Engineering and Innovation.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Designs, develops, and deploys AI (Artificial Intelligence) models and algorithms to address specific business challenges.
  • Implements machine learning models, natural language processing, and other AI technologies to enhance our products and services.
  • Collects, preprocess, and analyzes large datasets.
  • Collaborates with data scientists and analysts to build data pipelines and ensure data quality.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, software engineers, and business stakeholders, to understand requirements and deliver AI solutions that meet business needs.
  • Effectively communicates complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stays abreast of the latest advancements in AI and machine learning technologies and conducts research to identify new opportunities for AI-driven innovation and efficiency within the bank.
  • Integrates AI models and solutions into existing systems and workflows.
  • Ensures the scalability, reliability, and performance of AI solutions in production environments.
  • Ensures AI solutions comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards while promoting the ethical use of AI within the organization and addressing potential biases in AI models.
  • The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
  • May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.


Position Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field or relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in GPT/AI/ML development and implementation
  • Proven experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and programming languages (e.g., Python, Java).
  • Strong knowledge of AI/ML algorithms and techniques.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using tools like SQL, Pandas, and data visualization tools.
  • Strong understanding of the underpinnings of AI tools (LLMs, data models, tokenization, bias, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of data types, databases, and data best practices.
  • Experience with data connectivity protocols (SFTP, API, flat file, etc.).
  • Experience with cloud-based AI platforms (e.g., AWS SageMaker, Google AI Platform, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot or Gemini).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of Technical Change Management and SDLC practices.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
