Overview

Clinical Activities (not related to teaching or research): This faculty’s clinical practice may be separate from the OHSU FTE or may be incorporated into the overall OHSU FTE; this is part of position negotiation.

Scholarly Activities (research/writing, abstracts, grant supported work, presentations, etc.): As negotiated.

Education Activities (include types of teaching and types of students taught): Instruction and supervision in APRN and DNP Core courses.

Service Activities: As negotiated

Administrative Activities: As negotiated, including securing clinical sites and qualified preceptors and overseeing student clinical placement as described below:

  1. Coordinate Clinical Program for the specialty in conjunction with PD and clinical faculty
  2. Coordinate program efforts to recruit and maintain agencies and preceptors.
    1. Develop new clinical sites to meet both current and future needs
    2. Communicate with faculty about concerns with preceptors/sites as identified in evaluations.
    3. Review preceptor and site feedback annually to improve placement experiences
  3. Coordinate communication between preceptors and clinical faculty at start of student term.
  4. Supervise Site and preceptor coordination in collaboration with CPO
    1. Ensure contract is in place before student starts practicum
    2. Ensure regulations are followed regarding selection of sites and preceptors, and the evaluation process
    3. Ensure preceptor information (CV, licensing/board info, certifications) is received and tracked
    4. Maintain roster of sites, preceptors, contact information and any additional needs/requirements.
  5. Create draft of student placements each term and modify as needed to address educational concerns
  6. Ensure students are prepared for placements with contact information and other information requires or expected by agency identified by CPO
    1. Meet with students quarterly to review clinical progress and practicum requests
  7. Review program Preceptor Manuals annually and recommend updates to PD (done at end of Spring term)

Other Activities: The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.


Responsibilities

Education: (Degree dependent on academic program type and rank of position.)

  • Doctorate (PhD or DNP—earned or in-process) is required; current or previous clinical experience as an APRN is preferred.

Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses: (Current licensure & certifications could be required depending on position and academic program.)

  • Oregon RN license is required.

Experience: (Experience dependent on academic program type and rank of position.)

  • At least two years of clinical experience required; teaching experience at graduate level or higher preferred.
