The OCTRI REDCap team provides essential tools to researchers at OHSU to efficiently and compliantly collect human subject research data. OCTRI’s installation of REDCap hosts over 4000 projects and supports more hundreds of users. Research teams using REDCap range across the translational spectrum and touch nearly every clinical research department at OHSU. Through excellent customer service, innovation and collaboration the REDCap team accelerates research activities and process at OHSU.

The OCTRI REDCap team is seeking a Research Application Support Specialist to provide research computing support to investigators and staff including troubleshooting, maintenance and assistance with the use of the OCTRI supported research software, REDCap. The Research Application Support Specialist will provide navigation of the tools and educational materials available to researchers and participate in strategies to optimize utilization of such tools and materials. This position also will provide direct support to investigators and internal support within the team to ensure smooth operations and delivery of the software to OCTRI clients. The Support Specialist will be responsible for developing in-depth understanding of the available features and modules in the software utilized; identifying the optimal application settings given the investigator’s requirements for their study; as well as have an excellent understanding of internal operations related to the support, maintenance and delivery of the tool.


Responsibilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree with major courses in field of research and 1 year of relevant experience; OR
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Experience performing data entry into databases
  • Experience in performing data management/cleaning tasks
  • Customer/client support experience in a healthcare or academic environment
  • Experience in the clinical research environment. May include coordination, data management, regulatory or other areas of work related to human subject research.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate professionally, clearly, positively and effectively
  • Extremely organized self-started with a strong sense of curiosity, priority, urgency and follow through.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify, triage and escalate issues, and offer creative solutions.

Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of an EDC system such as REDCap, Medrio, REDCap Cloud, Velos, StudyTrax, Oracle Clinical or PhaseForward
  • Experience in the OHSU computing environment
  • Experience testing software applications
  • Proven ability to work in a team-oriented, dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of clinical research concepts, processes, regulations and policy
  • Experience in a computing support capacity
  • Experience designing or using electronic Case Report Form (eCRF)/EDC or study subject research projects within clinical or academic environment
  • Web programming in scripting languages such as PHP
  • Web design and layout with HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Database design using SQL
  • Excellent technical writing requirements and specifications for data collection development.
  • Ability to understand software application functions and technical documentation
