Overview

Remote Position (OR/WA Only)

This is a remote position – incumbents, who reside in Oregon or Washington only. There may be occasional situations that require work to be performed on-site at an assigned Legacy Health location. All new hires are required to come to a designated Legacy Health office location in Portland, Oregon prior to their start date for a new hire health assessment and to complete new hire paperwork. This position may require initial training and orientation to be site-based, before transitioning to the remote schedule.

The Quality Abstraction Specialist plays a vital role in the organization's pursuit of healthcare quality excellence. Reporting to the Director of Quality Data Management, this position is dedicated to extracting and analyzing medical chart data to assess and improve the quality of healthcare services within regulatory parameters. The Quality Abstraction Specialist is integral to ensuring accurate abstraction of clinical data related to CMS measures, eCQMs, and similar quality measures that are publicly reported. The Quality Abstraction Specialist meticulously reviews and abstracts data, contributing to the continuous enhancement of patient care and the organization's commitment to compliance with quality standards and regulations. The abstraction team receives technical oversight provided by the Director of Quality Data Management, ensuring accuracy and consistency in data abstraction processes.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience within a healthcare environment, preferably roles focusing on data abstraction or compliance with regulation.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and reporting requirements, including CMS quality reporting measures, preferred.

Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Exemplary attention to detail and accuracy in data abstraction and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in data abstraction using healthcare information systems and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex clinical healthcare data.
  • Thorough understanding of CMS measures, eCQMs, and other quality reporting requirements (preferred)
