Responsibilities

The Professional Practice Evaluation (PPE) Coordinator organizes, oversees, and performs support functions for Medical Staff PPE for all the LHS Medical Staffs. A critical requirement of this position is the ability to maintain confidentiality and to assure strict adherence to the tenets of medical staff PPE. The PPE process includes understanding PPE requirements from The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies, defining components and accountabilities, development of data collection and measurement processes to support PPE activities, and support of information dissemination to physician leaders and individual practitioners. This process also includes identification and preparation of cases and support materials for peer review by the medical staff, organizing and maintaining a system for the timely completion and reporting of peer review activities to further support Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations.


Qualifications

Education:

  • As required by licensure.
  • BSN or degree in progress strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience with electronic medical records (EPIC).
  • Proficiency in concepts of medical staff PPE / Peer Review, diagnosis and coding systems (e.g., ICD-10 coding) preferred.
  • Strong background in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and disease process preferred.

Skills:

  • Ability to work with Medical Staff leaders and Medical Staff administrative personnel on completing PPE processes for medical staff members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient medical information, including protected health information (PHI), and Medical Staff information.
  • Ability to understand and ensure adherence to requirements including medical legal standards, laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with Medical Staff leaders, Administration, and others.
  • Ability to lead groups, facilitate consensus, maintain communication, and direct action.
  • Ability to think analytically and to inform data collection, analysis, and reporting approaches.
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments and adapt to changing processes.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret physician and other health care team members’ documentation.
  • Ability to understand and apply Joint Commission requirements and other regulations as related to Professional Practice Evaluation.
  • Ability to work with minimal daily supervision.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software.
