Overview

Applicants are invited to apply for a Postdoctoral Research position in the laboratory of Dr. Angelina Vaseva within the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, Department of Pediatrics. The work will be focused on pediatric solid tumors with hyperactive RAS signaling such as RAS-driven rhabdomyosarcoma and NF1-associated malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor. The candidate will explore novel approaches to target RAS and RAS signaling in these cancers with the goal to define directions for novel therapies. The work involves combination of omics (RNAseq, DNAseq, proteomics) and in vivo and in vitro experimental approaches such as synthetic lethal screens, drug response assays, molecular biology, biochemistry and use of patient-derived xenograft models in mice. Ideal candidates will be independent, motivated and hard-working. They are expected to work closely with the PIs and demonstrate excellent communication and intrapersonal skills. Qualifications include significant training in Cancer biology, protein biochemistry, cell culture techniques and mice handling. In addition, experience with bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related discipline will be considered a strength. Responsibilities include performing experiments, data analysis, reports, and manuscript preparation.   • Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships

Qualifications
  • 4 or more years of related laboratory experience
  • Molecular Biology and Protein Expression
  • In vivo studies in the murine model
  • Pluripotent stem cell culture experience, including generation of new iPS lines
  • Single cell sequencing experience
