  • *Float to NICU and Pediatric Units- (unless candidate desires to work it and has NRP to back it)
  • *Will float to less or like units when needed where qualified, including 10N Intermediate Care Unit, 10S Hem/Onc Unit, 9S Surgical Acute Care and 9N Medical Acute Care. Candidate will only be expected to practice within their scope.
  • Travel flips will be asked their unit worked in, travel end date and comfortability working in the unit without an additional orientation. This will determine how many units orientation are needed if any.

  • The Doernbecher PICU cares for critically ill neonatal, pediatric, and young adult patients. We care for patients with medical, surgical, cardiac, oncologic, and trauma diagnoses. We also care for patients requiring advanced modalities of treatment including continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
  • Bedside procedures including central line placement, arterial line placement, lumbar puncture, intubations/extubations, CRRT initiation/discontinuation, ECMO cannulations/decannulations, chest exploration, and any other emergent operative procedures for a patient who is too unable to transport to the OR.
  • Special Equipment: Hamilton G5 Ventilators, DirectLink ICP Monitors, Artic Sun Targeted Temperature Management, Baxer Prismaflex Machines
  • Preferred: NRP, candidates who have had clinical experience in higher-acuity mixed (medical/cardiac) PICUs.

  • Orientation Details
  • - PICU General/EPIC Orientation is every Tuesday(In person) and Thursday (virtual)
  • - Rolling start dates, only 2 candidates per orientation acceptable
  • - Unit Orientation dates vary based on candidate availability and facility bandwidth (week of and week after general) Weekends are acceptable
  • - times may vary based on preceptor availability and shift candidate was subbed to-
  • **Facility expectation is RN picks up shifts immediately following orientation completion**

    Unit Specific Information

  • -48 hours review time – reviewed by the facility for approval
  • -Charting system- Epic (strong EPIC needed)

  • *If the candidate has previously worked at OHSU, the recruiter please include in the submittal notes.
  • -Former OHSU employees must be away from any/all OHSU facility for at least six (6) months before they may return
  • - 4+ weeks Credentialing process, orientation requested 2 weeks out!
  • - COVID19 Vaccine (Dose 1 & Dose 2 if applicable) - COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended. Personnel who are not Fully Vaccinated must comply with the requirements for unvaccinated individuals issued by the facility. If declining, declination must be completed. Candidates who decline COVID-19 vaccination are required to wear a surgical or procedure mask for all patient encounters.
  • Priority compliance item: Must be obtained within 24 hours – 1 week of acceptance – risk to falling behind will result in a delayed start, these items must be completed before orientation. please set expectations up front with candidate.

  • -Release Authorization – this applies for **any new candidates to Aya** Candidate should sign within 24 hours of pipe
  • -Compass Modules – within the first week
  • -Background, Work History, and Education Information – We need all the necessary information within a week
  • Two (2) manager or supervisor references from an employer within the last 12 months are required to be provided by DOC DUE DATE. (one to sub) A supervisor is considered someone who has evaluated travelers performance. Charge RN references are NOT acceptable UNLESS they supervised directly. Must select the box that says "supervisory"
