We care for children with multiple health issues including neurosurgical, neurology, respiratory, endocrine, nephrology, orthopedic, general surgical, cardiac, and more.
Some patients are total care patients with or without a ventilator.
Patient Diagnosis includes neurosurgery patients with externalized ventricular devices or spinal fusions.
Job Requirements
1 year experience required (no new grads)
Inpatient Pediatric RN experience
AHA BLS and AHA PALS certifications required (RQI not accepted)
Vent Experience is a hard requirement
Willingness to float to less or like units when needed and qualified
Required Experience/Unit Details: Tracheostomy care, Ventilator Management, dialysis, trach care, total care, spinal fusions, lumbar drains, externalized ventricular device
Schedule Information
Rolling start dates with only 2 candidates per orientation acceptable
Orientation includes one 12-hour orientation day (4 hours on each unit: 10N, 9N, and 9S) with schedule dependent on unit's preceptor availability for that week
One in-patient EPIC class offered every Tuesday (virtual and self-paced)
Facility expectation is RN picks up shifts immediately following orientation completion
Unit Specific Information
PACS (Pediatric Surgical) provides acute level care for Surgical, Cardiology, Endocrine, Gastroenterology, Plastics, Trauma, Ortho, Urology and overflow Medical patients 0-18 years of age
Pediatric Acute Care Medical (PACM) provides Acute Care level care for patients 0-21 years of age, across a large spectrum of services including medicine, pulmonology, adolescents, family medicine, and more

48 hours review time – reviewed by the facility for approval

Former OHSU employees must have been away from any/all OHSU facilities for at least six months before they may return
Credentialing process takes 4+ weeks, orientation requested 2 weeks out
