JOB OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE:

The registered nurse Outpatient RN CAP 1 position represents an entry-level role within the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). This role is responsible for providing and coordinating clinically efficient care such as assessing, planning, intervening, and evaluating for a select group of patients. This may extend to delegating suitable tasks to direct patient care personnel including but not limited to RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians. As a key member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) healthcare team, this position takes part in decision-making, teaching, leadership roles, and quality enhancement actions that improve patient care results and facility operations.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

All duties and responsibilities are to be performed following Fresenius Kidney Care policy, procedures, nursing practice standards, and state and federal regulations. These include:

- Carrying out all crucial tasks under the guidance of the Supervisor, Clinical Educator, Preceptor, or alongside other Registered Nurses.

- Performing systematic collection and analysis of patient data and recording it in the patient medical record before, during, and after the hemodialysis treatment.

- Providing ongoing patient and family education by assessing, collaborating, and documenting their fundamental learning requirements.

- Administering prescribed medications based on approved algorithm(s), and documenting the medical justification and effectiveness.

- Assisting with or initiating emergency response measures as needed.

- Serving as a resource for the healthcare team and participating in staff training and the orientation of new staff as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

The job demands heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation. It requires prolonged periods of standing and bending. Occasional moving of equipment of up to 200 lbs., with assistance, and lifting chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs. may be required. The role may involve exposure to infectious and contagious diseases/materials and may require travel to training sites or other facilities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role includes overseeing Patient Care Technicians/LPNs/LVNs/RNs as a Team Leader or Nurse in Charge after meeting all these requirements:

- Completion of all FKC education and training requirements.

- A minimum of 9 months of experience as an RN.

- At least 3 months of experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as an RN.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:

Candidates should be graduates of an accredited School of Nursing, hold the appropriate state licensure, and have a current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

The role is open for RNs with less than one year of Nephrology Nursing experience
