Job Summary:

As the Manager, Statutory Reporting, you will manage preparation and filing of statutory financial reports and provide independent reviews and approvals needed for quality and internal accounting controls. Oversee additional statutory filings required by all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam for all statutory entities.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development and production of statutory financial reports including the Annual and Quarterly Statements, other State Forms and Audited Financial Statements for the insurance subsidiaries to ensure regulatory compliance, quality and internal accounting controls.
  • Prepare and monitor compliance and quarterly reporting calendars.
  • Oversight and review of monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and other monthly and quarterly close activities as needed.
  • Manage the use of financial systems that support reliable and timely external financial reporting.
  • Perform research on statutory accounting and emerging issues and propose or incorporate disclosure conclusions.
  • Coordinate with the Manager of Financial Reporting and Controller to properly document GAAP/STAT differences and participate in the management review processes and communications related to financial reporting.
  • Prepare and file the Holding Company Registration and Amendments in accordance with the regulations prescribed by our state regulators.
  • Oversee additional statutory filings for the states and territories where all statutory entities are licensed.
  • Research regulatory compliance issues and communicate with senior management.
  • Coordinate with Corporate and Divisional Actuaries to provide detail financial and statistical information in specific formats requested by rating agencies, state insurance examiners and other organizations in the insurance industry, as well as to meet the requirements of the European Embedded Value (“EEV”) calculations and disclosures.
  • Provide executive summaries on complex issues requiring extensive research and analysis of statutory requirements for the insurance subsidiaries and the holding company.
  • Evaluate and maintain financial reporting and data integrity. Prepare and monitor the department’s annual expense budget.
  • Oversee the daily production of the Green Book for the Separate Accounts.

Skills and Background You’ll Need:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • CPA, CMA or CIA (preferred)

Experience:

  • 6 years of combined experience in insurance industry statutory reporting, financial reporting and accounting, or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Work experience with public auditing and regulatory agencies (preferred).
  • ERP experience with data extraction and report building (preferred).
  • MS Office -- advanced Excel (required)
  • Power BI, Python (preferred)

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:

$92,750.00 - $148,500.00
