The Health Information Management Tech assists in document imaging functions by accurately prepping, indexing, scanning and conducting quality assessment on all documentation received and scanned; retrieval of health information data; and responding to record requests properly. You will perform a wide variety of activities to support providers, healthcare professionals and customers with service and information needs.


Responsibilities

Perform a wide variety of activities in the support of providers/health care professionals/customers with service and information needs; retrieval of health information data, and health record maintenance.


Qualifications

Experience:

At least one-year previous health care, or medical records experience preferred. Familiarization with medical terminology.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations
  • Knowledge of confidentiality laws, policies and procedures related to specially protected health information
  • Knowledge of basic grammar and spelling skills
  • PC-based computer skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and effective communication skills to promote cooperation and teamwork.
  • Ability to work credibly and effectively with medical and administrative staff
  • Knowledge of record flow and assembly
  • Ability to withstand various job pressures
  • Ability to organize and prioritize related tasks
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision, exercising independent judgment within stated guidelines
  • Ability to perform the competencies and essential functions of the job as outlined
    Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred)
  • Knowledge of filing systems, terminal digit order (preferred)
