Position Summary
The Campus Public Safety Officer will enable the Campus Public Safety Office to fulfill its stated goals and activities by performing related duties:
  • to patrol the campus in order to report unlawful activities to commissioned law enforcement officials;
  • to ensure University policies, rules, and regulations are adhered to;
  • to respond to emergency situations that do not involve a report of potential or perceived violence;
  • render assistance;
  • often dealing with all types of persons under stressful conditions;
  • promote a positive image of the University as a whole, through an attitude of community service and outreach;
  • perform the assigned duties in a competent and professional manner.

We are recruiting to fill two open positions.
Minimum Qualifications from Classification
Minimum Qualifications are not established for this classification. The appointing authority is responsible for recruitment and selection. Refer to Personnel Rule 105-43-005.
Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Valid State issued driver’s license.
  • Clean driving record.
  • No felony convictions in Oregon or any other jurisdiction.
  • No violation of any law involving controlled substances.
  • No violation of any law subject to denial as identified in OAR 259-008-0070.
  • Successful completion a pre-employment background check.
  • Complete Law Enforcement- Frontline National exam from National Testing Network.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree and/or 1-3 years of experience in a similar role, such as private security, park rangers, police officer, military.
  • Complete Law Enforcement- Frontline National exam from National Testing Network with a combined average of 85%.

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
The starting salary rate for this position will be between $21.94 and $25.21 per hour. The starting salary may be negotiable above this range, however it will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
