Job Details
Assessment skills: Has competent knowledge of all the normal stages of growth and development from Pediatric to Geriatric and delivers patient care appropriately. Performs thorough assessments that are systematic, comprehensive and accurate.
Clinical Skills: Consistently demonstrates competent clinical skills. Performs direct patient care activities in support of patient care delivery and team concept. Provides competent and appropriate nursing care to the population of the unit. Demonstrates knowledge and skill of emergency equipment and procedures.
Documentation: Maintains complete and accurate documentation. Assumes primary responsibility for documenting components of the nursing process and patient's progress toward meeting outcomes in the patient chart including patient education.
Professionalism: Demonstrates professional practice responsibility. Knowledge of policies and procedures and able to identify areas for clinical and professional growth.
Patient Satisfaction: Responds in a professional, courteous, positive manner to promote an environment where the patient and family are at the center and the care team works cooperatively. Maintains confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
Safety: Follows National Patient Safety Goals, including following Universal Protocol and identifying patients using two patient identifiers. Demonstrates use of safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics.
Unit Specific Job Function: Knowledge of the conditions, diagnoses, procedures, and equipment encountered for surgical patients. Individualizes care across the continuum. Assesses patient reaction and understanding of procedures instructions.
Responsibility and Accountability: Assumes responsibility and accountability for directing patient care by prioritizing based on needs and changes in condition.
Patient Education and Chart Completion: Assesses patient understanding of surgical procedures and includes patients and family members in teaching. Performs pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education.
Duties Specific to PAT RN: Supports completion of patient testing in a timely manner. Evaluates PAT orders for appropriateness.
