Role Purpose Statement

As a Safety Clerk, you will be responsible for monitoring driver SOP and working with the department to ensure compliance in addition to maintaining & monitoring employee safety.

Main Accountabilities

What You Will Do

  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures by local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate employee safety training programs, including new hire orientation, ongoing safety education, and emergency response training.
  • Responsible for SOP training for all new drivers and re-training of drivers
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining all driver files
  • Processing of all Port Authority/Customs identifications
  • Ensure all State inspections, registrations and Insurance IDs for trucks are current
  • Responsible for ensuring all drivers adhere to A-1 Inspection procedures
  • Assist the Ramp Safety Supervisor as needed and perform other clerical duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Mus possess a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain Airport SIDA badge and CBP Customs Seal within 30 days of hire
• 3-5 years of safety experience preferred; AOA ramp experience may be substituted year for year for Safety experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and other computer applications
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Strong analytical, verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Detail oriented
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with large groups – must be flexible
• Open availability, ability to work nights and weekends as operations require
• Usual shift will be 4am - 1230pm and schedule will be either Wed-Sun or Thurs-Mon
