Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced senior-level Structures Estimator to join our Team. As a Structures Estimator, you will be responsible for providing turnkey estimating services from project advertisement through award and budget creation. Estimating projects will include bridges (substructure and superstructure), retaining walls, shoring, cast in place structures, precast structures, box culverts, as well as all the heavy civil / heavy highway work associated with the structural components.

This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills to effectively collaborate with clients, subcontractors, material suppliers, design firms, utility companies, and all stakeholders to ensure the most accurate and thorough structures estimates are assembled using HCSS Heavy Bid. This position will also require working in a team environment with the Banicki Estimating Team, Banicki’s Chief Estimator, Banicki’s Senior Estimator, and other Banicki Operational staff to ensure the most competitive structures bids are assembled in a timely manner.


Key Responsibilities

• Proven ability to assemble complete structures estimates, along with all associated heavy civil and heavy highway work, using HCSS Heavy Bid.

• Proficiently prepare structures estimates by calculating various statistical data such as quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man-hour, equipment costs, and applying them to the complete scope of work.

• Ability to rapidly analyze structural projects by thoroughly reviewing plan sets, geotechnical reports, attending pre-bid meeting, site visits, etc.

• Robust ability to perform detailed quantity takeoffs and calculations using OST, Planswift, Excel, and Bluebeam.

• Reviewing and researching historical data (productivity analysis reports, publicly available bid tabs, purchase orders, subcontracts, etc.) and compiling summary reports to develop guidelines and precedence for structures estimates.

• Incorporating historical data into unit and man-hour figures within HCSS Heavy Bid.

• Actively participating in developing bid package estimate documents

• Proficiently maintaining files of working documents for back-up to estimating figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.

• Creating, sending, and managing subcontractor requests for proposal

• Reviewing design options and recommending the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials

• Following awarded contracts as assigned – may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits, procuring materials, etc.

• Conduct and lead comprehensive bid reviews with Banicki’s Chief Estimator and Management Team prior to bid day.


Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree (B.A) from four-year college or university in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

• Minimum of 8-years operational experience on structures related projects including: bridges (substructure and superstructure), retaining walls, cast in place structures, precast structures, box culverts, as well as all the heavy civil / heavy highway work associated with the structural components.

• Minimum of 5-years estimating experience on structures related projects including: bridges (substructure and superstructure), retaining walls, cast in place structures, precast structures, box culverts, as well as all the heavy civil / heavy highway work associated with the structural components.

• Minimum of 5-years structures estimating experience utilizing the following software programs: HCSS Heavy Bid, OST, Excel, and Bluebeam.

• Strong technical knowledge of all structural scopes, specifications, heavy civil construction, civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders, subcontractors, and material suppliers.

• Excellent understanding of structures productions, crew assembly, equipment allocation, work sequence, and work scheduling.
