Job Summary: 

LICENSED MEDICATION CARE SPECIALIST (LPN)

The core responsibility of the LPN Medication Care Specialist is to ensure the highest standard of quality care through efficient medication administration and treatments. This role involves administering medications, recording medication administration, conducting service and health updates, and delivering resident care. The individual will be tasked with upholding the mission of Sunrise Senior Living to enhance the quality of life for seniors in accordance with regulations and Sunrise Senior Living's policies. 

Responsibilities: 

As a team member at Sunrise, you're expected to uphold our Mission, Service Principles and Core Values. This role involves: 

Medication Management:

- Providing quality care and service through safe, organized medication and treatment administration
- Reviewing and documenting daily logs for pertinent resident information
- Receiving medication updates from the Resident Care Director or Wellness Nurse
- Administering medications and treatments while maintaining confidentiality and reporting resident concerns
- Ensuring medication inventory is maintained, medication room is clean and organized, and medications are refilled as per protocol
- Promoting residents’ independence, dignity, and safety while adhering to Sunrise's Principles of Service

Residential Care:

- Notifying the Resident Care Director of any resident or family concerns
- Conducting Service and Health Updates and participating in the creation of Individualized Service/Care Plans
- Transcribing orders

Risk Management & Safety:

- Ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements and adherence to safety procedures
- Reporting accidents immediately and ensuring all potentially hazardous conditions/equipment are addressed promptly 
- Practicing proper bio-hazard and infection control techniques and handling oxygen tanks safely

Teamwork & Professional Development:

- Actively participating as a team member and attending regular meetings and trainings
- May be assigned as shift supervisor or to supervise other medication care managers
- Stay updated with all required training according to Sunrise standards

Professional Qualifications: 

Successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. They must possess:

- LPN, LVN, or other nursing credentials as per the state
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with seniors
- Written and verbal skills for effective communication
