Job Details
Facility in Eastern Nebraska is looking for several traveling Med-Surg nurses.
The hospital is looking for both day and night shift coverage.
The shift will be twelve hours, 13-26 Week Contracts, 36-48 hour guarantees.
Job Requirements
ACLS Preferred, BLS
Common diagnosis / Types of patients: MedSurg/Tele- joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, failure to thrive
Are RN's required to titrate drips?: Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine
Common titratable &/or set rate drips: PCA pumps
Schedule Information
Shift Details: 0630-1900, 1830-0700
Travelers will be scheduled.
Will approve a limited amount of block scheduling
Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirements: 1 major, 1 minor
Floating Requirements: Yes to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed

Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Tele techs will interpret, RNs should have some tele awareness
How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2 days
Have mechanical lifts in every other room, Big focus on hourly rounding and responsiveness, This unit typically has multiple discharged and admissions in one day - a nurse is successful on this unit when they can manage the busyness of the day, have good attendance, are a team player, friendly, compassionate, and cares about patients first. They serve patients of all cultures on this unit including Spanish, Karen, Burmese.
