  • Facility in Eastern Nebraska is looking for several traveling Med-Surg nurses. The hospital is looking for both day and night shift coverage.
    Job Requirements
  • ACLS Preferred, BLS
  • Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
    Schedule Information
  • Shift will be twelve hours, 13-26 Week Contacts, 36-48 hour guarantee's
  • Shifts & Scheduling: 0630-1900, 1830-0700
  • Travelers will be scheduled
  • Approve a limited amount of block scheduling
  • Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirements: 1 major, 1 minor
  • Floating Requirements: Yes to other medical surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a MedSurg bed

  • Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
  • Common diagnosis/Types of patients: MedSurg/Tele- joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, failure to thrive
  • Are RN's required to titrate drips?: Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine
  • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: PCA pumps
  • Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes
  • Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:10-20
  • Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Tele techs will interpret, RNs should have some tele awareness
  • Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided?: RNs: Navy Blue
  • How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2 days
  • Additional Notes: Have mechanical lifts in every other room, Big focus on hourly rounding and responsiveness, This unit typically has multiple discharged and admissions in one day- a nurse is successful on this unit when they can manage the business of the day, have good attendance, are a team player, friendly, compassionate, and cares about patients first. They serve patients of all cultures on this unit including Spanish, Karen, Burmeese
  • RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
