BASIC FUNCTION

Develops, implements, and maintains the credit union’s mortgage lending program.


  1. Regular attendance in the work site.
  2. Maintains knowledge of the credit union’s policies and procedures as well as all regulations and statutory requirements.
  3. Assists in developing procedures and policies necessary for the success of the mortgage department.
  4. Oversees the coordination of departmental staff’s day-to-day functions.
  5. Promotes member service and cooperation between departments.
  6. Evaluates and approves/denies mortgage loan applications within granted authority.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

  1. Superior levels of service and attention provided to credit union members and mortgage department staff.
  2. Activities, reports, training, and projects completed in a timely and detail-oriented manner.
  3. Activities are conducted in an efficient and generally error free manner.
  4. Losses, errors, and risks are limited by adhering to all applicable policies and procedures.


Specialized or Technical Knowledge and Skills: The Vice President - Mortgage Lending Officer must possess the following knowledge and skills:
1. Mathematics – Using mathematics to assist members or to solve problems.
2. Active Listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand points made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
3. Service Orientation – Actively looking for ways to help people.
4. Social Perceptiveness – Being aware of others reactions and understanding why they react as they do. The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
5. Coordination – Adjusting actions in relation to others actions.
6. Reading Comprehension – Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
7. Speaking – The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
8. Near Vision – The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
9. Computer – Ability to enter data using a computer.
10. Time Management – Managing one’s own time and the time of others.
11. Deductive Reasoning – The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
12. Inductive Reasoning – The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
13. Must be bondable.
14. High School Diploma or the equivalent.
15. Minimum of 7 years mortgage experience.
16. Degree from accredited university or college and/or previous mortgage experience desired.
