As part of our Standards division, o2si, is a leading manufacturer of organic and inorganic reference materials. At our site in Charleston we produce customised organic Reference Materials (RM's) and Certified Reference Materials (CRM's) to support the chemical, environmental, petroleum, clinical, food safety, pharmaceutical and industrial hygiene industries. Our services in Charleston are accredited to ISO 17025 and ISO 17034 quality standards.

Job Description

This is a Quality Control chemist position where one is responsible to make check standards, routine instrument maintenance and operation of GC/MS, GC/FID, HPLC, and UHPLC/MS, validating manufactured products in a timely manner. Attention to detail, teamwork, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and organizational skills are necessary to excel in this position.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Conducts basic procedures that support other operations in the laboratory
• Manufactures and develops in-house calibration standards
• Performs and follows standard operating procedures
• Operates and maintains equipment and instrumentation
• Follows written and verbal instructions
• Follows complex procedures and operations
• Meets production and/or validation goals
• Trains others in the area of expertise

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in chemistry degree or equivalent is preferred
  • Previous instrument experience is a plus
  • Experience in a production and/or manufacturing laboratory is a plus
  • Demonstrates math and Microsoft skills
  • Possesses good verbal and written communication skills
  • Possesses the ability to solve problems and apply retained knowledge
  • Exhibit organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills
  • Work effectively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision
