Position Summary:

Reporting to Director, Development Planning and Analysis, the Senior Manager of Development Operations and Analysis is responsible for leading strategic initiatives to strengthen and improve on major donor reporting and analytics, drawing on data trends from prospecting, projection management, fundraiser activities, and financial results to guide priorities across the fundraising team. They will partner with fundraising management to establish and track revenue benchmarks on a state and national level.


The Senior Manager of Development Operations and Analysis works closely Finance, Finance Operations and IT teams to provide a cohesive data environment. They will create and maintain an integrated reporting system focusing on revenue targets, moves management, and donor engagement. They are a leading subject matter expert for fundraising reporting and analytics in Salesforce CRM and Audubon’s Business Intelligence (BI) system. They are responsible for designing, recommending, and managing systems improvements efforts that impact major gift fundraising strategies.

Salary range based on geo-differentials:


  • $95,000-$110,000/year = National

  • $105,000-$120,000/year = Alaska, CA (not San Francisco), Connecticut, D.C., Chicago, Oyster Bay, NY

  • $115,000-$130,000/year = NYC (not Oyster Bay), San Francisco, Seattle


  • Essential Functions
  • Lead the creation of new and innovative dashboards and reporting suites in Audubon’s CRM and BI platforms. Build, design, and maintain data marts, in collaboration with IT analysts, to optimize reporting for Development’s financial results, fundraising activities, and operational needs.

  • Provide technical expertise for building automated and accurate reporting systems. Ideate, iterate, and enhance new reporting methods that provide powerful insights to inform fundraising strategies.

  • Work closely with the Development Operations team to generate recurring and ad hoc reports for Development staff and leadership, highlighting key data trends for the Development network. Recurring reports the Development Operations team produces include goal tracking, revenue reconciliation, budget and forecasting projections, prospecting and portfolio analysis, among others.

  • In partnership with IT and Finance Operations, ensure the functionality and reliability for key fundraising data points.

  • Support the management of ongoing maintenance and data integrity audits of Development’s core reports. As needed, collaborate with colleagues using the system to support data integrity needs.

  • Act as a subject matter expert for Development’s use of Salesforce CRM, aligning and updating the system’s architectural structure to suit the needs of Audubon’s Development team across the country.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to manage projects related to the integration of various data sources and platforms. Manage and advise on projects related to creating and maintaining data syncs, triggers, and automations on the CRM and other platforms.

  • Provide technical training and share knowledge with operations and analyst personnel in the Development department, as needed.

  • Contribute to long-range planning and goal-setting activities for the Development Operations team and greater Development department.

  • Special projects as required.


  • Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required, as well as a minimum 7 years working directly with donor or customer data at large, complex organizations.

  • Demonstrated understanding, and experience with, complex CRM databases, data management, data warehousing, analytics reporting, visualization tools, business intelligence, and reporting query tools.

  • Required experience and strong proficiency with:

    • Salesforce reporting and analytics, certification(s) preferred.

    • SQL, Snowflake preferred.

    • Business Intelligence platform(s), such as Sigma Computing.

    • Microsoft Excel.

  • Ability to identify and solve unstructured problems and provide clear, organized plans of action that lead to measurable results.

  • Demonstrated experience overseeing and implementing best practices and business rules to enhance revenue analysis in a CRM database.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; must be able to effectively analyze, interpret, evaluate, and communicate simple and complex technical information.

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with other departments from a Development/Sales perspective, ideally, IT, Operations and Finance offices. Must be able to think strategically to anticipate impacts of decision-making across departments.

  • Strong project and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.

  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills; exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work with highly confidential information.

  • Preferred skills/familiarity:

    • Knowledge of fundraising principles, nonprofit financial compliance, and nonprofit industry landscape

    • Experience using CDP and CRM tools, such as EveryAction, and integrating data sources across platforms.

    • DemandTools, JIRA, Asana.
