Job Description:
The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones are seeking a talented and innovative Experience Design Lead for the Brand Marketing team. This role focuses on enhancing user experience (UX), customer journeys, and ensuring brand integrity across all marketing activities.
The Experience Design Lead will maximize the talents of their team, acting as a leader-doer. This hands-on role will oversee design projects across B2B and Wealth and Investing, ensuring brand consistency and high-caliber work. Reporting directly to the Brand Creative Director, the Experience Design Lead will play a crucial role in shaping the way our customers interact with our brands.
As the Experience Design Lead, you will leverage your expertise to optimize the customer experience across various marketing touchpoints, ensuring that all interactions are seamless, intuitive, well-designed, and aligned with our brand values. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, audience-centric design solutions that drive engagement, loyalty, and conversion.
Responsibilities & Activities
  • Lead the design and user experience across digital and brand touchpoints.
  • Innovate ideas to build strong, design-forward UX foundations, and improve design and user experience for existing websites and platforms.
  • Refine and improve customer journeys with a strategic, content-focused, design-forward, audience-first approach.
  • Ensure brand consistency, design and typographic excellence across all marketing efforts and customer journeys.
  • Connect the dots between creative briefs, teams, strategy, content, and creative assets.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to define UX objectives, and align design projects with business goals and objectives.
  • Understand and define project architecture from vision to execution, build project roadmaps to build coalition and guide progress.
  • Design and oversee new projects, including content strategy, wireframes, visual design, prototypes.
  • Guide and liaise with dev team and dev partners to establish parameters, limitations, timelines, requirements.
  • Review and provide design direction for the creative team's work to ensure quality standards and adherence to project and business objectives.
  • Manage designers and other creative resources to deliver projects on tight deadlines.
  • Educate stakeholders and colleagues to build understanding of UX best practices.
  • Share knowledge and inspire the team with knowledge of design and UX trends, and deep interest in the creative landscape.

Qualifications & Criteria
  • 10+ years of experience in UX and UI design, or a similar in a senior or lead role.
  • Portfolio demonstrating proven design ability, strategic thinking, refined sensibility for UI, color and typography, with a focus on user experience and customer journeys.
  • Deep understanding of UX principles, content strategy and information hierarchy.
  • Experience designing and evolving visual identity and design systems.
  • Keen creative sensibility and dedication to design and typographic excellence.
  • Proven experience leading creative teams on complex projects from concept through execution.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment, across multiple projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present to and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and organization skills.
  • Expertise with design and prototyping tools, such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, InVision, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ideally, a BA or BS degree in Design, UX Design, HCI, or a related field.

Pay Range: $135,000 - $165,000
