Position Summary:

The Compensation Analyst will play a pivotal role in ensuring our compensation programs are competitive, equitable, and aligned with our mission to protect birds and the environments they rely on. The Analyst will play a critical role in developing and maintaining competitive and equitable compensation programs that support our mission and strategic objectives.


This position will involve conducting detailed analyses, participating in the design and implementation of compensation programs, and providing essential support to the People & Culture (P&C) team and managers. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of compensation practices and regulations, and a passion for contributing to a conservation-focused organization. This role offers a unique opportunity to blend human resources expertise with a commitment to environmental stewardship.


Reporting to the Senior Director, People Operations, the Analyst will maintain key compensation structures designed to attract and retain employees by providing and analyzing various data.


The Analyst will be hybrid and may be based in Washington, DC or New York, NY.
Compensation:

Salary range based on geo-differentials:


  • $80,000-$95,000/year = Washington, DC

  • $90,000-$105,000/year = New York, NY


  • Essential Functions

    Compensation Program Administration


  • Assist in the development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs, including salary structures, incentive plans, and recognition programs.

  • Conduct job evaluations and analyses to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness.

  • Participate in compensation surveys and analyze survey data to determine competitive positioning.


  • Data Analysis and Reporting


  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports on compensation metrics.

  • Analyze compensation data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Provide analytical support for compensation-related projects and initiatives.


  • Consultation and Support


  • Partner with HR Business Partners and managers to provide guidance and support on compensation-related matters.

  • Advise on job descriptions, salary recommendations, and market pricing.

  • Assist in the development, communication, and enforcement of compensation policies and procedures.


  • Compliance and Best Practices


  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations.

  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in compensation.

  • Participate in audits and prepare documentation to ensure compliance.


  • Continuous Improvement


  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in compensation administration.

  • Collaborate with P&C team members to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency.

  • Support the development and implementation of new compensation tools and systems.


  • Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.

  • 5 years of experience in compensation analysis or related HR roles. An equivalent combination of education and work experience will also be considered.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret data and make sound recommendations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including VLOOKUP.

  • Familiarity and experience using Workday highly preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of federal and state compensation laws and regulations.

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation is a plus.

  • Experience in a unionized environment a plus.

  • Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to and experience in advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
