Overview
Design, implement, and manage University communication systems including Cisco IP telephony infrastructure, wired and wireless networks, and related technologies that support the Universitys enterprise telecommunications services for NYU-NY and the global campuses. Integrate the communication systems with other technologies and platforms used within the university, ensuring seamless operation and interoperability. Lead upgrades of existing infrastructure at NYU-NY and the global sites. Review client communications requirements and map those requirements to solutions using existing technology options. Configure and optimize network hardware and software to ensure efficient and reliable communication. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Responsibilities
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
Required Experience:
5+ years of relevant technical experience including experience in designing, implementing and managing communications systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience:
7+ years Experience with cloud-based communication systems, VoIP technologies, and network security. Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale communication projects and initiatives.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Proficiency in network configuration and troubleshooting, understanding of IP networks, wireless communication systems, and cybersecurity principles. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, collaborate with diverse teams, and contribute to a positive work culture. Strong organizational and planning skills. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow up on instructions independently. Ability to manage time, set priorities, meet deadlines, and achieve goals Willingness to adapt to changing technologies and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical skills. Proven experience with ITIL concepts and processes to facilitate service delivery. Demonstrated knowledge of TDM solutions, VoIP solutions, Computer Telephony Integration (CTI), Automated Attendant Services, and Voice Mail Services. Demonstrated knowledge of VoIP, Unified Communications, and general telecommunications concepts, practices, and procedures.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to absorb complex technical information and communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to build strong customer relationships. Ability to synthesize large sets of data and determine high-level key messages and gaps. Ability to present findings effectively to management. Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making. Ability to follow data privacy and security procedures to adhere to required legal standards.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $115,000.00 to USD $135,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
