Responsibilities:

Uniformed Division Officers throughout their career will be responsible for various protection-related duties. The responsibilities include:

- Ensuring the safety and security of the Presidential Residence, the Vice-President's abode, Main Treasury Building and its Annex, as well as foreign diplomatic offices and embassies in the area.
- Traveling alongside and safeguarding the President, Vice President, and foreign dignitaries.
- Performing protective duties as mandated under Section 3056A, Title 18 of the United States Code.

Conditions for Employment:


- You must be a US citizen.
- You must have a valid driver's license.
- To receive a conditional job offer you must be under 37 years of age. Exceptions are made for prior service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position with special retirement provisions.
- Undergo and pass a drug test before appointment and agree to random drug testing while employed in the position.
- Must disclose past usage, attempted usage, or experimentation with drugs.
- Ability to handle and use a firearm is mandatory, as is maintaining firearm proficiency. If you have been convicted for a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, you are ineligible unless pardoned or the conviction is excused or expunged.
- Successfully complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (Glynco, GA or Artesia, NM) and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center. Failure to meet the standards in a single attempt may lead to separation from the Secret Service.
- If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, you must register with the Selective Service System or be exempted from doing so.
- Visual acuity must be no worse than 20/100 binocular without correction, and 20/20 or better in each eye with correction. Certain corrective operations like Lasik, ALK, PRK, and RK are acceptable for applicants, provided specific visual tests are passed post-surgery.

Requirements:


- Your hearing capacity, measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz range in either ear.
- You must be able to obtain Top-Secret Clearance and maintain it throughout your career.
- Use the same name on your application as is on your valid government-issued ID (e.g., driver's license, state ID, passport).
