Role Overview: As a Clinical Registered Nurse (RN) for Fresenius Medical Care's Dialysis Clinic, you will be part of a tight-knit, cooperative team tasked with delivering specialized care and dialysis treatment to patients grappling with end-stage renal disease or chronic kidney disease. Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

All these duties and responsibilities should be carried out in compliance with Fresenius Kidney Care policies, nursing practice standards, and state and federal regulations. 

- As part of the nephrology healthcare team, you will be involved in decision-making, teaching, leadership roles, and quality improvement initiatives that boost patient care results and clinic operations.
- You will coordinate patient care, which involves reviewing, planning, intervening, and assessing for a select group of hemodialysis patients. This includes delegating suitable tasks to direct patient care providers.
- Perform continuous patient data analysis during each patient visit and document it in their medical record.
- Make necessary adjustments or changes to treatment planning and inform the supervisor as needed.
- Provide initial and continued education to patients and their families.
- Administer medications as prescribed or following the approved algorithm(s), and document necessary medical justifications and effectiveness.
- Initiate or assist with emergency response measures.
- Ensure accurate laboratory procedures are undertaken, processed, and shipped.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to devise the patient care plan.
- Raise patient awareness concerning transplant and treatment modality alternatives.
- Complete CAP obligations to either maintain or progress within the program.
- Administer referrals to a social worker and a registered dietitian as needed.

Education and Licensure:

- Completion of an accredited School of Nursing program
- Current and appropriate state licensure 
- CPR BLS Certification, either current or completed successfully imminently 
- Must meet the practical requirements in the state in which he/she is employed

Experience and Skills: 

- Compassion, caring and supportive of colleagues, collaborative, and reliability traits
- Worked as a Registered Nurse (preferred but not essential)
- Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred but not essential)
- Must pass Ishihara Color Blind Test

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

- Provides direct patient care involving heavy lifting, assisting patients with movement and ambulation. Equipment aids and/or colleagues may offer support.
- Frequent, prolonged standing periods are required, and the employee must be capable of bending over.
- Occasionally, with assistance, the employee may be required to move equipment weighing up to 200 lbs., and may lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 lbs. to a 5 feet height.
- Work settings are typical of a healthcare facility with controlled air temperatures and moderate noise levels.
- Exposure to infectious and contagious diseases/materials may occur.
- Day-to-day tasks comprise desk work, computer work, and interaction with patients, facility/hospital staff, and physicians.
- Travel to training sites or other facilities may be a job requirement.
- Performing the essential job functions at other locations with the same physical demands and working conditions as described above may be necessary.
