Outpatient Registered Nurse - RN

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performing duties and responsibilities in adherence with Fresenius Kidney Care policies, nursing practice standards, and state and federal regulations is required. You will be a vital part of the nephrology healthcare team, participating in decision making, teaching, leadership roles, and activities that boost patient care outcomes and facility operations. 

A few of your responsibilities include:

- Coordinating patient care which includes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for an assigned group of hemodialysis patients.
- Performing continuous analysis of patient data with each patient visit and document in the patient medical record.
- Modifying the treatment plan as needed and notify your supervisor of any changes.
- Providing education to the patient and their family, both initially and ongoing.
- Administering medications as per approved algorithms, documenting medical justification, and effectiveness.
- Collaborating with the Interdisciplinary Team over the patient care plan. 
- Completing CAP requirements to maintain or progress within the program.  

EDUCATIONAL AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current state licensure.
- Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification.
- Meeting the practice requirements in your employing state.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

- Compassionate, caring, supportive of colleagues, collaborative, reliable.
- Previous experience as an RN (preferred but not essential).
- Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred but not essential).
- Ability to successfully pass the Ishihara Color Blind Test.

WORK CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The role includes direct patient care involving regular heavy lifting, patient movement, and ambulation assistance. Help from equipment and/or coworkers may be provided. This position entails frequent prolonged periods of standing and bending over. Occasional movement of machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs., with assistance, may be necessary. Lifting of chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet might be demanded. Despite air temperature control, expect moderate noise levels typical of a healthcare facility. Exposure to infectious and contagious diseases/materials may occur. Desk work, computer work, and interaction with patients, facility/hospital staff and physicians are part of day to day tasks. The position may require travel to training sites or other locations.
